Kalmar SmartPort Equipment Ordered for New Argentine Terminal
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded the contract for the supply of multiple Kalmar SmartPort solution products to TecPlata S.A, a fully-owned ICTSI company. The greenfield terminal located in Port La Plata, Argentina, will feature in the first phase Kalmar SmartLift and SmartStack on its 18 Kalmar terminal tractors, nine ZPMC RTGs, two Kalmar reachstackers and three Kalmar front-end loaders. New Response Boat at Coast Guard Station Port Huron
The crew of Coast Guard Station Port Huron, Mich., began training on the station's new 45-foot Response-Boat-Medium, Monday after taking possession of the boat last Thursday. The RB-M can respond faster than previous boats of similar size with a top speed in excess of 40 knots, has advanced search capability with an installed forward-looking infrared search technology, the Coast Guard said. Additionally, with twin jet propulsion, the vessel is able to respond in shallower water.
Port of L.A. Review Proposed Yang Ming Terminal Improvements
The Port of Los Angeles is initiating the environmental review process on a proposed berth-improvement project by Yang Ming, a Taiwanese marine transport company at the Port. The start of the environmental process, which is expected to formally begin this fall with a Notice of Preparation, is the first step in Yang Ming's plan to enhance its terminal facilities and deepen its berth to accommodate 14,000 Twenty Foot Equivalent (TEU) vessels and increase cargo volume.
