Missing US Navy Sailor Found Alive
A U.S. Navy sailor feared to have fallen overboard has been found alive aboard USS Shiloh (CG 67) a week after he went missing. Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 3rd Class Peter Mims was reported missing June 8 and was presumed to have fallen overboard in the Philippine Sea, triggering a search involving U.S. Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Japan Coast Guard assets that lasted more than 50 hours and covered some 5,500 square miles.
Havyard Bags Canadian Trawler Order
Havyard Ship Technology said it has signed a letter of intent with the Canadian shipping company Baffin Fisheries for the design and construction of an arctic stern trawler. The vessel, a Havyard 554, is designed by Havyard Design & Solutions in close cooperation with the customer, and is 17 meters wide and 74.5 meters long. The parties intend to enter into an effective contract within August 2017, with a scheduled delivery date for the vessel in April 2019.
US Ships on Course for More Days in South China Sea

Kotug Smit Towage Orders Three New Tugs
With its latest newbuild order, Kotug Smit Towage will bring the total number of Damen-built tugs operating in its fleet of 69 to 22. The European harbor towage services provider has ordered a trio from Damen Shipyards Group, including two 80 metric ton bollard pull ASD Tugs 2913 (including one with firefighting capabilities) and a 70 metric ton bollard pull ATD Tug 2412 Twin Fin.
