The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, dipped 2 percent on Thursday, weighed down by weaker demand for capesize and panamax vessel segments.The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax and supramax shipping vessels, fell 30 points, or 2 percent, to 1,516 points.The capesize index snapped five straight sessions of gains and fell 35 points, or 1.5 percent, to 2,353 points.

Dutch marine services provider Herman Sr. BV announced that it has agreed with Damen Shipyards Group to order the first of a newly-developed Damen Shoalbuster type with full DP2 capabilities.
