MarAd Grants Fuel U.S. Shipyard Growth
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) announced $19.6 million in grants to support capital improvements at 28 U.S. small shipyards as a part of its Small Shipyard Grant program. Incat Tasmania Launches 111 Meter Ferry
Incat Tasmania launched a 111-meter ferry -- Volcan de Tagoro (Incat Hull 091) -- from the shipyard at Hobart’s Prince of Wales Bay on June 15.Naviera Armas SA will operate the vessel on Spanish routes, including the Canary Islands. The company has an extensive fleet of vessels, and Volcan de Tagoro will be the fifth Incat vessel operating in the Armas fleet, however is their first newbuild from Incat Tasmania.

Canadian-based Atlantic Towing Limited said it has entered into a contract with Norwegian builder Havyard Ship Technology for the purchase of a Havyard 833 WE platform supply vessel (PSV), the Atlantic Harrier, for delivery in April 2020.Designed and built by Havyard Ship Technology, the Atlantic Harrier is an 89.7-meter vessel with a 1,002-square-meter deck area, significant cargo tankage, and accommodations for 54 people.
