London Fire Brigade Adds Two New Fireboats

The London Fire Brigade has added a pair of new fireboats on the Thames as part of a £40 million investment made by City Hall to expand the Brigade’s fleet of equipment and vehicles.The new 16.2-meter-long boats, Tanner and Errington, are named after Auxiliary Fireman Harry Errington and Auxiliary Firewoman Gillian Tanner, who in the Second World War were both awarded medals for bravery. The call signs for the boats are H23A and H23B, a reference to Adam Mere and Billy Faust, two London firefighters who died fighting a fire in 2004.Built by Holyhead Marine…

SAExploration Wins $130Mln of New Projects

Houston-based  global seismic services company SAExploration announced a combined $130 million of new projects in Alaska, Canada and the Middle East.According to the geophysical services provider the largest contract is valued at approximately $112 million for onshore data acquisition services to be performed on the North Slope of Alaska.The data acquisition services will be conducted over the next three winter seasons, beginning in Q1 2020.In association with this multi-year project award, SAE has entered into a separate agreement with Geospace Technologies Corporation to purchase 30,000 new state-of-the-art GCL recording channels.The new Geospace channels will primarily be utilized during the aforementioned multi-year contract in Alaska…

ARC to Christen 3 Vessels on Friday

American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier (ARC) will christen the ARC Resolve, ARC Integrity and the ARC Independence, welcoming three of the most versatile and militarily-useful ships to the U.S.-flag commercial fleet, on Friday in the Port of Baltimore.ARC’s three, new vessels will be enrolled in the Maritime Security Program (MSP), the bedrock Congressional maritime readiness program, and the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA).Maritime Administrator Mark H. Foxx Names New Members to Maritime Industry Advisory Panel

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced the appointment of 29 new members to the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Committee (MTSNAC). Established in 2010, MTSNAC is comprised of leaders from commercial transportation firms, ship construction, repair and recycling, trade associations, state and local public entities, labor organizations, academics, and environmental groups that advise the Secretary and the Maritime Administration on policies to ensure that the U.S. Marine Transportation System is capable of responding to projected trade increases. The Committee advises the Secretary on solutions to impediments hindering effective use of short sea transportation and other matters as the Secretary determines.

Washington State Ferries Adds Extra Trips

Friday’s preseason game against the Denver Broncos marks the start of football fans’ ferry travel season. To manage the influx of people, Washington State Ferries will provide additional ferry sailings leaving Bremerton at 10:15 p.m. and leaving Seattle at 11:30 p.m. Each home game, thousands of fans take ferries on their way to CenturyLink Field. The 12th Man isn’t alone in making for busy ferries this weekend: Hempfest and a Sounders game will also to add to rider counts. American V. Awarded Management Contract

American V. Ships, Mineola, N.Y., has been named the technical manager of three vessels to be chartered to the recently established Wallenius and Wilhemsen joint venture - Wallenius-Wilhemsen Line. American V. will continue to manage the 5,600-unit each Faust and Fidelio, which have been under the company's management since 1989. American V. signed a six-year contract with Automar International Car Carrier to be the technical manager of the U.S. flag vessels, Faust and Fidelio. The company will provide its full range of technical management services including operating, crewing, budget control, purchasing and quality assurance. The three vessels are chartered through September 2005 to American Roll-on Roll-off Carriers, a U.S. subsidiary of Wallenius-Wilhemsen Lines.
