Maritime Partners Buys AMSC's Jones Act Tanker Fleet

New Orleans-based Maritime Partners has reached a deal to acquire AMSC subsidiary American Tanker Holding Company, which owns a fleet of 10 Jones Act tankers.Maritime Partners' newly formed Project Merchant Acquisition arm signed a share purchase agreement with Oslo-listed AMSC to acquire AHTC for an enterprise value of $746.7 million. AMSC will receive $249.3 million in gross cash proceeds from the sale.The transaction is expected to close on or before October 31, 2023, subject to certain closing conditions and AMSC shareholder approval.ATHC…

American Shipping Company (AMSC) has signed a deal with Project Merchant Acquisition LLC, a newly-formed company owned and controlled by a fund managed by Maritime Partners, for the sale of its subsidiary American Tanker Holding Company.Pål Lothe Magnussen, CEO of AMSC, said: “The management team at AMSC is pleased that a Maritime Partners managed fund, a leading Jones Act leasing company, is acquiring our Jones Act business. We believe this is the ideal new owner of this business for the next phase in the lifecycle of these assets.

Largest Vessel in Solstad Fleet, Normand Maximus, Set for Long-Term Hire with Unnamed Subsea Contractor

Solstad Offshore Secures $50,8M in Contracts for CSV Normand Maximus

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Solstad Offshore  said Friday it had  secured letters of awards from multiple unnamed subsea contractorsfor the hire of the construction support vessel Normand Maximus for the execution of projects during 2023.The projects have a combined duration of at least 200 days, plus additional option periods.

Renewables Assignments for Solstad's CSV Trio

Norwegian offshore support vessel owner Solstad Offshore ASA has found work for three construction support vessels, apparently all in the renewables space.Normand Australis has secured a 150-day contract for “Walk to Work” services on an offshore wind project in Asia, starting in March 2022.Normand Cutter has won a 110-day charter for a cable project in Northern Europe with the start-up this month.Also, Normand Fortress has won a 180-day firm contract for “Walk to Work” services on an offshore wind project in Northern Europe. The contract will start in April 2023.

Solstad Offshore Finds Work for Normand Maximus CSV

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Solstad Offshore has said Wednesday it had secured a contract for its Normand Maximus construction support vessel.The contract is with an unnamed "major energy company." Hansa Heavy Lift Delivers Egina Carousel to Nigeria

Armed Piracy in West African Waters Rise

Bulk of attacks occurred off Nigeria. Armed attacks on ships in West African waters nearly doubled in 2016, with pirates increasingly focused on kidnapping their crew for ransom off Nigeria's coast, a report said on Tuesday. A recent spate of attacks off Somalia, meanwhile, may also indicate a resurgence of piracy in East Africa as a result of less vigilance, the Oceans Beyond Piracy (OBP) project said. OBP, a project of the privately funded One Earth Future Foundation that encourages cooperation across the international maritime community to tackle piracy, recorded 95 attacks in West Africa's Gulf of Guinea in 2016, up from 54 the previous year.

Oil Worker’s Children Abducted in Nigeria

Two children, Fransisca Ehileme, age six, and her five-year-old brother, Francis, both children of an oil worker, were abducted by gunmen on their way to school around Rumuigbo junction in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Security sources informed the Nigerian Tribune in Port Harcourt that the father of the children, Mr. Maximus Ehileme, a production superintendent with Elf Petroleum, was taking them to school in his car at about 6:50 a.m. when the armed hoodlums blocked his car near Obi Wali Road junction by Rumu-Echieolu Street. A source from the State Security Service (SSS) told the Nigerian Tribune that no contact had been established with the kidnappers yet, but added that the SSS had already taken up the case and would be handling the negotiations for their release.
