OW Bunker Launches Physical Operations in New York

OW Bunker, international physical distributors and resellers of marine fuels, announced the launch of physical distribution operations in the ports of New York and New Jersey. The move follows the start of physical operations in Los Angeles and Long Beach this past March. With ports in New York and New Jersey, OW Bunker’s furthers its strategy in expanding its physical presence in key North America locations.   Adrian Tolson, General Manager, OW Bunker North America said, “The positive customer response to our physical operations in LA and Long Beach confirmed that there is a real demand for high value services in major ports throughout the US region. Launching physical distribution services in New York and New Jersey further strengthens our network of physical capabilities across North America, providing customers with adaptable and reliable services from East to West Coasts that help them to manage costs, ensure quality, and improve their operational efficiencies and performance.”   The company will provide customers with a range of products including RMG 380 (HSFO and LSFO), RMK 700, RMK 500 and LSMGO at all berths and anchorages in the area. OW Bunker will extend its relationship with barging company, Westoil Marine Services, which includes the charter of a double-hulled barge and additional barges will also be utilized as required.


Marine Spill Response Corporation Extends Services

The Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is now providing upgraded oil spill response services in the mid-continent region of the U.S., including the Mississippi, Ohio, Arkansas and Missouri Rivers. Captain Ian Walker will represent the National Response Organization, which owns and operates a fleet of USCG certified Oil Spill Response Vessels, in this new endeavor.


ABP Southampton Gets New Marine Services

Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Southampton and VT Halmatic have signed a marine services contract. VT Halmatic will provide a Fleet Contract Hire Scheme to ABP Southampton, one of the UK’s largest and busiest ports. ABP Southampton’s existing pilot, survey and patrol fleet comprising seven vessels will be procured by VT Halmatic and leased back on a fully supported contract for ten years, incorporating a six-vessel replacement programme.


Aegean Marine to Open New Service Center in West Africa

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. an international marine fuel logistics company that markets and physically supplies refined marine fuel and lubricants to ships in port and at sea, today announced that it plans to launch a new service center located on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa during the fourth quarter of 2007, expanding the Company's global network of marine fuel service centers. Seaboard Marine Discontinues Joint Service With Kent Lines

Seaboard Marine Limited of Miami and Kent Line International Limited of Saint John, New Brunswick has announced they shall not be re-newing their partnership between Canada, Miami and the Caribbean. The last Sailing under joint arrangement is expected to be the Seaboard Toronto V1616 sailing from Saint John on March 27, 2001 and Miami, Florida on March 31, 2001. Seaboard will be deploying two vessels to replace the Kent Express and Kent Sprint in the rotation from Miami to Antigua


U.S. Postal Service Salutes Merchant Marine on New Stamps

The Postal Service will salute the U.S. Merchant Marine on four forever stamps July 28 at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.  Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend the 11:30 a.m. dedication ceremony that takes place in the Ackerman Auditorium, 300 Steamboat Rd. GE Aeroderivative Marine Gas Turbines Log more than 320,000 Service Hours

GE announced that its fleet of 25 aeroderivative marine gas turbines has accumulated more than 320,000 hours operating aboard 16 cruise ships. GE remains the only gas turbine manufacturer to have its engines in service on cruise ships, the company reported today at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention. "We are setting a new reliability standard in the cruise industry for propulsion and onboard power," said Karl Matson, general manager of GE Transportation's marine business, Evendale


KD Marine, MOS Sub-Sea Service Agreement

KD Marine and Mermaid Offshore Services (MOS) have jointly entered into an Alliance Agreement which will enable KD Marine to provide fully integrated saturation, air diving, daughter craft and ROV services from the advanced DSV the Mermaid Endurer in the European market. KD Marine will act as the lead contractor in the Alliance, providing the diving and project management services whilst MOS will provide the DSV, marine and ROV services.
