Marine Spill Response Corporation Extends Services

The Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is now providing upgraded oil spill response services in the mid-continent region of the U.S., including the Mississippi, Ohio, Arkansas and Missouri Rivers. Captain Ian Walker will represent the National Response Organization, which owns and operates a fleet of USCG certified Oil Spill Response Vessels, in this new endeavor.

ABP Southampton Gets New Marine Services

Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Southampton and VT Halmatic have signed a marine services contract. VT Halmatic will provide a Fleet Contract Hire Scheme to ABP Southampton, one of the UK’s largest and busiest ports. ABP Southampton’s existing pilot, survey and patrol fleet comprising seven vessels will be procured by VT Halmatic and leased back on a fully supported contract for ten years, incorporating a six-vessel replacement programme.

Seaboard Marine Discontinues Joint Service With Kent Lines

Seaboard Marine Limited of Miami and Kent Line International Limited of Saint John, New Brunswick has announced they shall not be re-newing their partnership between Canada, Miami and the Caribbean. The last Sailing under joint arrangement is expected to be the Seaboard Toronto V1616 sailing from Saint John on March 27, 2001 and Miami, Florida on March 31, 2001. Seaboard will be deploying two vessels to replace the Kent Express and Kent Sprint in the rotation from Miami to Antigua

Scituate Boat Works Opens Marine Services Building and Ship’s Store

Scituate Boat Works (SBW) recently completed the construction of a marine services building and Ship’s Store at the Scituate (Massachusetts) Town Marina.   The new facility is the latest step in the process of revitalizing the town-owned marina to improve services to recreational boaters and the area’s commercial fishing fleet. The inner harbor where SBW is located has been dredged and is now a marked channel to the marina.  

Horizon Marine adds Web Mapping Service to Eddy Watch

Horizon Marine has added a new Web Mapping Service (WMS) to its suite of web-based mapping products available to Eddy Watch subscribers. GE Aeroderivative Marine Gas Turbines Log more than 320,000 Service Hours

GE announced that its fleet of 25 aeroderivative marine gas turbines has accumulated more than 320,000 hours operating aboard 16 cruise ships. GE remains the only gas turbine manufacturer to have its engines in service on cruise ships, the company reported today at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention.
