Bouygues Offshore Logs New Contract

Technigaz, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bouygues Offshore, will build a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tank in Palos de Frontera, Spain under a contract awarded by ENAGAS. This contract, for a total amount of EUR 40 million (Bouygues Offshore's share: EUR 28 million) will be performed by a Joint-Venture of Technigaz (70%) and Initec (30%). The customer, ENAGAS, is the only LNG importer in Spain so far. This turnkey contract covers Engineering, Procurement, Construction and pre-commissioning of a full-containment storage tank for the extension of the LNG import terminal located in Huelva harbor on the Atlantic Ocean. The inner tank will be made of 9% nickel steel with perlite insulation to maintain the LNG at a temperature of -163(degree)C, while the outer tank will be made of prestressed concrete. The full-containment tank has a storage capacity of 150,000m3. Delivery is scheduled for the end of the fourth quarter 2004.


Project Seeks to Increase Energy Efficiency in Offshore Shipping

A project has been established to identify energy efficiency and fuel saving initiatives for the offshore shipping industry.  The partnership involves a collaboration of seven Norwegian offshore shipping companies. The Joint Industry Project is called Energy Efficient Offshore Partners, and consists of: BOA Offshore, Eidesvik Offshore, Farstad Shipping, Gulf Offshore Norge, Havila Shipping, Siem Offshore and Solstad Offshore


Stolt Offshore Announces $110 Million Contract

Stolt Offshore S.A. has secured a contract from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Nigeria for the ForcadosYokri offshore development in the Niger Delta. The $245 million contract has been awarded to a consortium of Stolt Offshore and the Nigerian company Suffolk which is part of the Adamac group. Offshore Rig Counts Unchanged

The number of mobile offshore drilling rigs under contract is unchanged from last week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, 139 of 190 mobile offshore drilling rig are under contract this week. U.S. Gulf drilling fleet utilization is 73.2 percent. ABS Nautical Systems Expands in the Middle East

ABS Nautical Systems has signed a contract with Arina Offshore (Fze) for use of its NS5 Enterprise software, marking the fourth new customer win in this region. The Dubai based company which specializes in vessel chartering and brokerage will utilize the Maintenance Manager module on one of its offshore vessels through the ABS Transfer of Class Agreement (TOCA) Initiative*. Offshore Rig Utilization Declines Slightly

Worldwide offshore rig utilization declined slightly since last week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. Two less mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract worldwide this week compared to last week. With 484 of the world's 634 offshore drilling rigs now under contract, worldwide offshore rig utilization is 76.3 percent. Offshore Rig Counts Mixed

The worldwide offshore rig demand declined since last week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. While demand in the U.S. Gulf improved, European rig demand continues to suffer. In European waters, 74 offshore drilling rigs are under contract this week, a one-rig net decline from last week, and a 10-rig fall from two months ago.
