Japan Dockyard Introduces Intergraph SmartMarine

Shin Kurushima Dockyard Company has introduced Intergraph's 3D CAD/CAM software into the production phase of its ship projects. SKDY had chosen to standardize on SmartMarine 3D and successfully demonstrated its use of the industry-leading solution with a steel-cutting ceremony. With Intergraph's continuous enhancement of SmartMarine 3D, the solution has out-of-the-box content and functionality to support ship production. Today, SKDY has successfully incorporated its specific requirements into SmartMarine 3D, which are fully automated across its production processes. With support from Intergraph, SKDY is the first shipyard in Japan to implement SmartMarine 3D for the production stage, using its own built-in, automated rules.

Vietnam University Selects Intergraph SmartMarine Enterprise

PetroVietnam University (PVU) joined the Intergraph Education Grant Program. PVU is located in the offshore oil and gas hub of southern Vietnam, and was established to focus on the development of the country's oil and gas industry. The Vietnamese university recognized that it needs to equip its students with the necessary skills and knowledge so that they are ready to apply the tools that employers already use when they join the work force. PVU will provide its students with access to SmartMarine Enterprise solutions, including SmartMarine 3D, SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant P&ID and SmartSketch. Intergraph's ruled-based technology features unique automation capabilities, which was a compelling factor in PVU's decision.

Tome Choose Intergraph® Solutions for FPSO Topsides

Brazilian joint venture will use SmartMarine® Enterprise components for project with oil giant Petrobras. Tome Ferrostaal, a joint venture between Tome Engenharia and Ferrostaal in Brazil, has selected Intergraph® SmartMarine® Enterprise solutions, distributed by Sisgraph, as part of a project with Petrobras, one of the world's largest energy companies. Intergraph's enterprise engineering software will be used to construct the topsides of six identical floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, which will be built in Brazil. Sisgraph, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been a distributor of Intergraph solutions in South America for more than 30 years. Intergraph and Sisgraph are part of Hexagon.

IESA Selects Intergraph for FPSO Project

IESA Selects Intergraph Solutions to Build Up to Eight Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading Vessels; Sisgraph to provide major Brazilian engineering and construction company with training and support for project. Brazilian engineering company IESA has selected Intergraph SmartMarine and SmartPlant Enterprise solutions, provided by Sisgraph, as part of a project with Petrobras, one of the world's largest energy companies. IESA will supply Petrobras with 24 compression modules for six identical floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, with an option for delivery of eight modules to the other two FPSOs. COSCO Extends Partnership with Intergraph

SHI Offshore Projects Use Intergraph SmartMarine 3D

Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries extends application of next-generation 3D engineering technology to its offshore projects. SHI has been a longtime user of the industry-leading solution, deploying it in full production within its Shipbuilding division, and has now extended the use of SmartMarine 3D for its offshore projects. SmartMarine 3D's automated, rule-based technology has enabled SHI to achieve its objective of delivering a higher volume of the most complex and technically advanced vessels on the market today. Due to the success of SmartMarine 3D for its shipbuilding projects, SHI decided to implement the next-generation solution for its offshore projects as well.

Indonesian University to Install Intergraph SmartMarine 3D

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember selects Intergraph® SmartMarine® 3D for its educational program. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), one of the best technology universities in Indonesia, has selected Intergraph® SmartMarine® 3D for use in its Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering. As the top educational institution for the marine and offshore industry in Indonesia, ITS wanted to ensure it remains relevant in the industry and equips its graduates with the right skills. The university decided to partner with Intergraph and offer SmartMarine 3D as part of its curriculum for the Faculty of Marine Technology in the Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering.

Intergraph Opens Expanded Marine Center in Korea

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), one of Intergraph's major marine customers, specializes in complex high-technology, high-value specialty ships, and it is the market leader in the drill ship, ultra-large container ship, LNG carrier and FPSO markets. The Korean shipbuilder is using Intergraph SmartMarine 3D in full production, which has contributed directly to SHI achieving its business objective of delivering a higher volume of the most complex and technically advanced vessels on the market today. The Intergraph Global Marine Center will work closely with SHI to continue enhancing SmartMarine 3D and the SmartMarine Enterprise suite, enabling customers to leverage the marine center's expertise and achieve similar success for their marine and offshore projects.

Brazil Shipbuilding: Soaring to New Heights

The recent growth of the Brazilian shipbuilding industry, with the construction of more than 20 new shipyards and efforts to modernize older shipyards, has highlighted the need for more efficient ship design and construction methods. With the increased reliance on production line automation, ship design software has become even more important. Kyushu University Chooses SmartMarine

Kyushu University, one of Japan’s top maritime and naval architecture academic centers, has selected Intergraph SmartMarine 3D design and engineering software for use in its Department of Marine Systems Engineering to teach students shipbuilding design and operation training. The curriculum will also integrate Lloyd’s Register rules calculation software solutions to provide the analysis and evaluation of ship structure strength against classification rules. Kyushu University will change its existing manual drafting education program to a new program consisting of SmartMarine 3D design and engineering software. Students will be able to create ship structure models and export these data to Lloyd’s Register’s RulesCalc software for structural assessment during the initial design process.
