El Paso Global LNG Signs MOU With EGAS

El Paso Global LNG, a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Eqyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) to investigate opportunities for El Paso to invest in the natural gas sector in Egypt. The MOU will allow the parties to cooperate in the exploration, production, gathering, transportation, and processing of natural gas and the possible development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction plant in Egypt. The parties will begin various studies into Egypt's natural gas sector immediately.


Kongsberg Develops Simulator for LNG Plant

Kongsberg Maritime's D-SPICE simulation tool has been used to develop and implement a sophisticated Operator Training Simulator for the gas treatment and liquefaction plant at National Grid Transco's (NGT) Glenmavis storage and peak shaving LNG plant in Scotland. Delivered in February 2007, the D-SPICE based Operator Training Simulator features a dynamic simulation model that covers the Selexol gas pre-treatment plant as well as the liquefaction plant


Gazprom Aims to be Top Gas Marketer

Russian natural gas company OAO Gazprom has set its sights on becoming one of the top 15 natural gas marketers in the U.S., www.marketwatch.com reported. The company expects to handle volumes of around 1 billion to 3 billion cubic feet a day or more once Russian exports of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, start flowing around the end of the decade. The company will consider investing in regasification facilities, but so far has no concrete plans to do so

Cheniere Energy Partners' subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction signs a LNG sale and purchase agreement with Total Gas & Power North America. Cheniere Partners owns 100 percent of the Sabine Pass LNG terminal located on the Sabine Pass Channel in western Cameron Parish, Louisiana.  The Sabine Pass LNG terminal has regasification and send-out capacity of 4.0 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and storage capacity of 16.9 billion cubic feet equivalent (Bcfe).


FGS Plans to Build, Operate LNG Facility

Floridian Natural Gas Storage Company (FGS) has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build and operate a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility in Martin County, Fla. Drewry's latest 'LNG Insight' saw heating demand subside in major importing regions in February & cargo availablilty also tightened. Regarding cargo availability, a few unplanned shutdowns, caused a 4% decline in the LNG  Freight Index. LNG shipping enjoyed a dream run during 2011 and 2012, owing largely to increasing tonne-mile demand and an almost stagnant fleet.
