Simrad Opens New Sales and Service Facility

Simrad U.K. has opened a new sales and service facility in Mylor Harbour, near Falmouth, Cornwall. The latest addition to the Simrad network opened its doors on January 1 and is set to enhance the service that Simrad and its dealerships provide in the South West of England. The facility will serve the local fishing, commercial and leisure marine communities in this busy area of activity for Simrad. Its core services of sales, service and installation aim to provide an extra outlet for people who use Simrad electronic equipment for professional and leisure purposes. The team at Mylor Harbour is made up of experienced engineers able to provide fast and efficient service when required. Manager of the new facility, Mike Beard said, “As well as expanding Simrad’s sales in the South West, one of our main goals is to assist in the installation and maintenance of Simrad products in the area.” “Simrad’s U.K. network is already very strong but the opening of the Mylor Harbour facility will bolster the service already available in the surrounding area,” said Jeremy Harrison, General Manager at Simrad U.K.

Kerr McGee Big Spender in Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale

Oklahoma-based Kerr-McGee Corp emerged as the biggest spender in a Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and gas lease sale that raised half a billion dollars, according to the U.S. Minerals Management Service. Central Gulf lease sale 178 for exploration blocks off the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama raised a total of $505.5 million, up from $300.6 million at the previous lease sale for the Central Gulf in March 2000.
