ABS Nautical Signs 30 New Contracts, Doubles Staff

ABS Nautical Systems, provider of integrated fleet management software for the maritime industry, announced it has experienced record growth in the second half of 2009. During that period, which began with the launch of the Newbuild Program, ABS Nautical Systems has expanded their business by signing 30 new contracts in just 26 weeks. ABS Nautical Systems expects to continue its momentum and forecasts even stronger growth in 2010. “By integrating our ship maintenance software with the classification and survey requirements of ABS, we will have the ability to streamline the owners’ inspection process and move towards developing a more standardized, class-approved maintenance program,” said Karen Hughey, President and COO of ABS Nautical Systems. “The tremendous success of the Newbuild Program has prompted us to double our customer support staff and develop expanded offerings to provide greater value for our customers.” One of the first class-integrated, fleet maintenance solutions, the Newbuild Program offers free hull inspection, web-based drawings management and maintenance management software to all ABS-classed vessels built after January 1, 2009.  One-third of the new contracts signed have come from existing customers. The Hull Inspection, Maintenance & Repair and Web-based Drawings modules included with the Newbuild Program are pre-loaded with the technical data specific to the newly built vessel


Hornbeck to Spend $265M on New Boats

Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. announced a new vessel construction programs for each of its two business segments, making it the company's fourth OSV newbuild program and second tug and tank barge (TTB) newbuild program. Hornbeck is seeking bids from domestic shipyards for the two programs. Based on internal estimates, the incremental cost of the two expansion programs is expected to be approximately $265 million in the aggregate


I.M. Skaugen Completes Newbuild Program

I.M. Skaugen ASA, Oslo (IMSK) will take delivery of its sixth vessel in the newbuilding program, MV "Norgas Napa", on October 31, 2003. The vessel is built by the Hudong - Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group in Shanghai, China. The successful completion of the newbuilding program combined with the new alliance with A.P. Møller - Maersk have placed Norgas Carriers and Maersk, with the joint venture MNGC, a one of the world's leading gas carriers

ABS Nautical Systems Signs Caspian Drilling Company

Caspian Drilling Company, based in Azerbaijan, will install ABS Nautical Systems’ NS5 Enterprise software on four of its drilling rigs.   Three of these rigs will take advantage of the ABS Newbuild Program and the Transfer of Class Agreement Initiative (TOCA)* by implementing the Hull Inspection and Maintenance & Repair modules.  A Survey Planning Document will be prepared for each of these rigs as well
