ABS Forms Asset Performance Management Group

ABS, a provider of global maritime classification services, announced the formation of the Asset Performance Management Group (APMG). The new organization integrates several existing services into a single team focused on complete life cycle performance services that complement traditional classification services. "The future of classification requires ABS to work with our members and clients in a more collaborative, more efficient and less intrusive way," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. "To effectively meet the needs of the marine and offshore industries, we are continually seeking ways to better integrate our traditional classification services with innovative concepts, tools and practices." The new APMG will bring together: •ABS Operational and Environmental Performance - Responsible for assisting clients with operational performance, energy efficiency and environmental performance •ABS Nautical Systems Product Line - Provider of asset management solutions for the marine and offshore industries through the NS5 Enterprise software suite •Asset Integrity Management - Assists clients in developing life cycle management programs that address reliability, technical integrity and safety ABS said the realignment will improve life cycle services in the areas of asset performance and management


Finnegan Joins Drew Marine As Manager

The Drew Marine Division of Ashland Specialty Chemical Company has elected John C. "Jack" Finnegan as manager of new business development. Finnegan, who comes to Drew Marine from Newport News Shipbuilding, will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities to expand the range of products and services Drew Marine offers to the marine industry. He will also manage start-up operation and global implementation for the company's new business ventures and product lines.

PortVision Now Supports Long Range Tracking

PortVision now offers a service that allows PortVision users to integrate long-range vessel tracking (LRIT) directly within the web-based PortVision platform.  PV-Onboard Global is the latest addition to the PV-Onboard product line, which already allows barges, intermodal containers, railcars, and trailers to be tracked and managed along with AIS-enabled vessels from within the PortVision service.

Cobham plc has established a new strategic business unit (SBU) Cobham SATCOM: Thrane & Thrane will form its core. Headquartered in Denmark, Cobham SATCOM is led by Thrane & Thrane CEO Walther Thygesen with assistance from a multinational management team, and includes Cobham’s satcom facilities in Cape Town, South Africa, Concord, California and Orlando, Florida. Twin Disc Expands Marine Presence In Japan

Twin Disc is forming a majority-owned joint venture with Niigata Engineering Company, Ltd., of Tokyo, Japan. AER Distributes BSCO Fire Suppression

AER Supply Ltd. has been named the exclusive distributor for BSCO, Inc. Fire Suppression Systems for 13 states.
