Port Canaveral to Dedicate Fire Tower

December 4, 2002

The Canaveral Port Authority and Brevard Community College will celebrate the addition of the new fire tower at Port Canaveral Fire Station December 7. The Port has provided maritime firefighting training to ship crews and area firefighters for nearly five years, investing $4 million in facilities. The addition of the fire tower has enabled the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department to obtain state certification to train structural firefighters. The Port Authority, Brevard Community College, and the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department have entered into an agreement in which Brevard Community College provides minimal standards training for firefighters and volunteers wishing to become paid employees in the state of Florida.
