Wärtsilä Acquires Senitec

February 5, 2007

Wärtsilä signed an agreement to acquire the Swedish company Senitec AB in Varberg. The company is privately-owned and specializes in environmental technology products for separating waste such as oily water and sludge in power plants, harbours and ships. Senitec has 5 employees. This new business gives Wärtsilä the possibility to expand its offering of environmental solutions in waste management (WM). The acquisition supports Wärtsilä's strategy to provide total solutions and packages to customers in all its business sectors: Wärtsilä Ship Power, Wärtsilä Power Plants and Wärtsilä Services. On joining Wärtsilä, Senitec will benefit from Wärtsilä's technical knowledge of specific business segments as well as its marketing and distribution network worldwide, providing a good basis for growth. The two companies have already cooperated in developing oily water treatment units for power plants.
