OCEA Shipyard Gets Commuter 108 Orders

Thursday, December 01, 2005
Les Sable d’Olonne based OCEA Shipyard has signed contracts for two OCEA Commuter 108 yachts, for delivery in summer 2007. The 107 ft. yacht, designed by Joubert-Nivelt, has a maximum speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 4000 miles. There is an owner’s stateroom, three or four guest cabins and accommodation for a crew of four. The yachts will be classified by Bureau Veritas and will be MCA compliant. Completion of these two yachts will mean that OCEA, which is currently better known for commercial builds, including fast ferries and patrol boats, will have five large yachts cruising the world. Presently, the OCEA Commuter 130, M/Y Okeanis is based in the Mediterranean and the OCEA Classic 100, M/Y Espiritu Santo and the Commuter 108, M/Y Abely Wheeler are cruising the Pacific.
