A&P Group Complete RFA Gold Rover Contract

Thursday, December 19, 2002
The refit of the Ministry of Defense's vessel RFA Gold Rover in A&P Falmouth is on target to be completed on schedule on December 20. The two-month refit has included hull preparation and painting, steel and pipe work, auxiliary engine survey and refurbishment, a major overhaul of four of the vessel's generators, accommodation upgrade and refurbishment, switchboard and electrical systems surveys and various other surveys to plant and equipment. Basin trials have now been successfully completed. Despite weather conditions, good progress was made with the vessel's paint work, aided by containment measures taken by A&P. The vessels Navystar system has also been upgraded during the refit. A significant paint and preparation programme in the vessel's cargo tanks has also been completed.
