The
USS Cole, which was severely damaged by a terrorist bomb that killed 17 U.S. sailors and two suicide bombes, will reportedly complete its long journey home on Wednesday. The vessel is being transported aboard Blue Marline, a Norwegian-owned heavy-lift ship which was recently named as a
Great Ship of 2000 by leading marine industry publication Maritime Reporter & Engineering News, and is due to arrive at Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula where it will be repaired. The ship was christened at the same shipyard in 1995. Repairs on the ship are anticipated to take about a year at a cost of about $240 million.
