Gulf Gateway Deepwater Port Safety Zone

The U.S. Coast Guard promulgated an interim rule establishing a safety zone around the Gulf Gateway LNG deepwater port (DWP) in the Gulf of Mexico. Vessels may approach within 500 meters of the DWP only with permission. Effective July 1, the IMO is establishing a recommendatory Area To Be Avoided (with a radius of two nautical miles) and a mandatory No Anchoring Area (with a radius of one and one-half nautical miles) around the DWP. The interim safety zone is effective immediately. 70 Fed. Reg. 24707 (HK Law)
