Tuesday, April 29, 2008

The orderbook boom in hatch covers continues and MacGREGOR – part of Cargotec Corporation – confirmed that hatch cover contracts for 79 bulk carriers had been secured in April. The hatch covers are destined for bulkers ranging from 56,000 dwt to 181,000 dwt on order in Korean shipyards for various shipowners.

Among these contracts is a complete hatch cover delivery for ten 56.000 dwt bulk carriers on order at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co Ltd for a German owner. MacGREGOR is also delivering cargo cranes to four of these ships, as announced earlier this month.

Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd has on order 22 bulk carriers and MacGREGOR’s contract includes design, fabrication and key components. MacGREGOR is also delivering hatch cover design and key components for 47 bulkers on order at STX shipyards for various owners.
