New Bunkering Deal in Trinidad

Fuels alliance between Petrotrin and BP Marine will offer more bunkering and supply resources and superior service to the region

Improved bunkering facilities in the Caribbean region are planned as a new agreement is announced between Petrotrin and BP Marine, which will combine to provide improved fuel supply services along the key west coast ports of Trinidad.

Petrotrin, the national oil Company of Trinidad and Tobago have an established marine bunkering infrastructure, supplying quality fuels from its refinery at Point-a-Pierre. BP Marine and Petrotrin will from 1st November combine their individual strengths in bunkering, customer service, marketing and marine products to creating a new alliance and a significantly higher level of service. BP Marine will now, in association with Petrotrin, market marine fuels through supply locations at all ports on the west coast of Trinidad.

Essentially, the combined resources will improve logistics at these ports, bringing at least initially, an additional bunker barge to the area which will provide a guaranteed superior service through timely bunker deliveries of high quality fuel at competitive prices. Busy south-north trade patterns make the Caribbean an increasingly attractive bunkering location for both large and smaller sized vessels.

Fuel can be delivered at Port of Spain, Tembladora and Chaguaramas in the north and from Point Lisas in Claxton Bay in the central area, with Point-a-Pierre, Brighton and Point Fortin supplying the south. BP Marine’s Lisa Dwyer explained that marine fuels Gasoil DMA, IFO 380cst RMG35, IFO 180cst RME25 and other intermediate grades can be delivered by barge at any of the above ports or direct by pipe at Point-a-Pierre.
