Yantai Tries Foran Software

Yantai Raffles Shipyard and SENER have entered into an agreement for the evaluation of FORAN, a CAD/CAM/CAE software for the design and production of all types of ship using a 3D product model. Yantai Raffles Shipyard, which is situated in Yantai, Shandong Province in northern China, has decided to carry out an evaluation of FORAN by means of a pilot installation for the elaboration of a 3D product model of their current project for an 86 m. AHTS vessel for Tidewater. A couple of days sufficed for the system implementation and currently the personnel at Yantai are undergoing full training in FORAN use. At the completion of each phase of this training the people involved will continue with real work on the project in hand. At the end of the training a four-month trial period will be used to completely develop the 3D model and at the end of this period, Yantai will reserve the right to continue with FORAN.
