Bailey Refrigeration Co. won a 5-year, $10 million contract by the United States Coast Guard
. The company, located in Avenel, New Jersey
, will supply and install new main air conditioning plants in nine classes of Coast Guard Cutters, ranging from 65' to 378'.
"This contract involves a major commitment on our part," says Ben Bailey
, the company's president. "Over the next five years, we anticipate installing about 120 air conditioning systems
in about 60 ships."
According to Mr. Bailey, "Our customized chillers are modular so they can be installed without cutting through the hull, and with minimum removal of interferences. All in all, this saves time and installation labor. In most cases, we can install our systems in the cutter's home port which can be anywhere from Maine
to Key West, from the Gulf Coast
to the Great Lakes, and from the West Coast
Mr. Bailey says he believes his company won the contract by combining the best technical and financial proposals with proven past performance. Mr. Bailey adds, "Having worked for the Coast Guard before, they were familiar with our high quality service record as well as our competitive prices. They are confident that we will deliver in an efficient and timely manner."
