Up to 35 Aframax Tankers Could Switch to Carrying Cleaner Fuel -Kpler

As many as 35 oil tankers that usually carry crude or fuel oil could switch to carrying cleaner products like diesel and jet fuel in the next two months as shipowners chase higher profitability, oil analytics firm Kpler said in a LinkedIn post.An LR2 (long-range 2) type tanker typically carries cargoes of about 90,000 metric tons of cleaner fuels.

RSC Bio Solutions said that its EnviroLogic Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs), including hydraulic, stern tube and thruster oils, and Safecare cleaners and their constituent components have been evaluated by independent laboratories to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s definitions of biodegradable, minimally-toxic and not bioaccumulative. RSC Bio Solutions, therefore, certifies its hydraulic fluids and cleaner products as 2013 VGP Compliant. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires that all vessels use an “Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant” (EAL) in oil to water interfaces unless technically infeasible.

Chemoil Postions for Expansion in N. America

Chemoil said it will continue to pioneer the provision of sustainable marine fuel solutions to help ship operators meet the emissions reductions requirements proposed for enforcement across the coastlines of the U.S. and Canada. This follows a joint application to the IMO by both the USA and Canada at the end of March 2009 to create an Emissions Control Area (ECA) that would stretch across more than 200 nautical miles of coastal waters to help lower emissions from vessels traveling to and from ports in the region.
