GDF SUEZ E&P UK chooses Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise suite for their use in North Sea oil, gas field

The information management solutions suite will provide GDF SUEZ with a long-term fully integrated system for engineering and operations.

GDF SUEZ E&P UK, a growing competitor in the United Kingdom North Sea oil and gas production sector, has recently adopted the full Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise engineering suite, including SmartMarine® 3D.

The information management, plant operations, electrical, instrumentation, and 3D design solutions will be used in operations on the Cygnus gas field, a major GDF SUEZ E&P development project, which sanction is targeted mid-2012. The Cygnus gas field is situated over U.K. Continental Shelf blocks 44/12a and 44/11a. The appraisal drilling performed since 2006 has proven the Cygnus field to be one of the most significant gas discoveries in the Southern North Sea in the last 30 years.

GDF SUEZ E&P UK identified the requirement for an integrated enterprise engineering solution to initially support operations and maintenance, but with the future capability for supporting the design and construction phases on future projects. Intergraph’s SmartPlant Enterprise solution suite aligns with this vision. The solution will provide GDF SUEZ E&P UK with a fully integrated engineering information management system for engineering and operations.

The deal comprises the full Intergraph suite, including SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators (SPO) Core/Project Execution/Operating Plant solutions, Validation, Transformation and Loading (VTL), SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartMarine 3D and SmartPlant Construction to assist the work of design engineers, construction planners, operations and maintenance personnel.

The technology will enable the company to manage high-quality deliverables, reduce costs in drawing generation, reduce project schedules and minimize the time spent securing correct and complete information.
