Manta Marine Technologies Announces New Leadership

CMA CGM to Buy New York, New Jersey Terminals from Canada's GCT

CMA CGM, one of the world's largest container shipping lines, said on Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire two container terminals at the port of New York and New Jersey from Global Container Terminals (GCT), which will extend its presence in a crucial hub for trade.The deal comes after French-based CMA CGM last month said it expects a pullback in shipping markets to accelerate in the fourth quarter due to high energy prices and flagging consumer spending, resulting a drop in its profitability following an earnings surge in the past year.Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Finnish fuel and auxiliary systems company Auramarine Ltd announced it has appointed Henri Räty as director of engineering and products, based in Lieto, Finland. As a shipbuilding engineer with extensive experience in project management and technical engineering in the maritime industry, Räty will play an instrumental role in the design management and strategic oversight of Auramarine’s range of fuel supply systems and solutions for both conventional and alternative fuels. CMA CGM Buys Part of Ingram Micro in $3 Billion Deal

France's CMA CGM said it had agreed to buy most of Ingram Micro's Commerce & Lifecycle Services (CLS) activities in a deal valued at $3 billion, adding this was aimed at accelerating the shipping group's push into end-to-end logistics.CMA CGM, one of the world's largest container shipping lines, said it will finance the acquisition from its own funds and expects the transaction to close in the first half of 2022.The part of Ingram Micro's CLS business being bought specialises in logistics outsourcing for e-commerce and order fulfilment across sales channels

Finland-based marine engine and technology provider Wärtsilä has appointed Håkan Agnevall as its next president and CEO.Agnevall, who is currently president of Volvo's bus division, will start in his role no later than in April 2021, succeeding Jaakko Eskola, who will continue with the company as a senior advisor and executive until he retires on June 30, 2021, after 22 years with the group.Agnevall has been with the Volvo Group  since 2013. ABS and HHI Group Join Forces on D&D

ABS, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Hyundai Global Service (HGS) have agreed on a framework for the exchange of Digitalization and Decarbonization (D&D) concepts to apply to present and future designs. NFT Partners with PG Flow Solutions on Wellboat Pumps

Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions is working with Norsk Fisketransport AS (NFT) to develop a new service programme to further optimise the operational uptime of the shipowner’s vessels.The Norwegean wellbore shipping company said that PG Flow Solutions has assisted it with identifying flexible pump systems that can be utilized across the company’s wellboat fleet.In the wake of this, NTF has identified and ordered selected cargo-critical pumps that are prepared for storage and will be available as spare pumps for use on board several of NFT’s wellboats, it said.Norsk Fisketransport AS provides wellboat services along the Norwegian coast. The company operates eight wellboats.PG Flow Solutions is also launching a pilot project for condition monitoring of the pumps.

Ichthys Explorer Moored off Western Australia

The world’s largest semi-submersible platform, the Ichthys Explorer, has been safely moored in the Ichthys Field, 220 kilometers off the north coast of Western Australia, where it will be located for 40 years, as part of the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project.   Bardex Corporation supplied four moveable Chain Jacks and 28 underwater Barlatches to support the handling of 28 mooring lines. The mooring operation was completed ahead of schedule with the assistance of Bardex lifecycle services. Bardex said the use of its Clump Weight contributed to the efficient mooring up operation.

Smart Ships: Inmarsat, Samsung Heavy Industries Partner

Satellite communications services provider Inmarsat said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), establishing a relationship to leverage the ‘smart ship’ connectivity offered by Fleet Xpress at the vessel construction stage. The agreement envisages the South Korean yard installing Inmarsat-approved terminal hardware and offering applications to cover remote machinery diagnostics and CCTV services, to leverage the satellite communications platform’s capabilities from the moment the ship is delivered.

CSSC Launches New Marine Service Business

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) said it has formally launched a new business CSSC Marine Service Co., Ltd, to coincide with the inauguration of its new logistics center within the Yangshang free trade zone, Shanghai. The inauguration was marked with a ceremony on June 30, 2017, attended by more than 150 industry representatives from ship owning, managing and operating companies, along with key cooperation partners ABB, MAN PrimServ and WinGD. Able to accommodate more than 20,000 kinds of original small parts including fuel injection equipment, piston rings, pipes, flaps and valves, and large parts such as cylinder liners, covers and piston crowns. The third party operated center forms phase one of an overall project for CSSC Marine Service Co., Ltd.

The PALFINGER Group closed the acquisition of 100 percent of the shares in Herkules Harding Holding AS, i.e. the globally operating Harding Group, supplier of lifesaving equipment and lifecycle services for maritime installations and ships. The PALFINGER Group’s new member will be reported on as a fully consolidated company starting from the second quarter of 2016. As a consequence of the acquisition – the largest in the history of the PALFINGER Group – PALFINGER expands its marine business by adding new products and a global service network.

The PALFINGER Group has signed today the acquisition of 100 per cent of the shares in Herkules Harding Holding AS and thus, the globally operating Harding Group. The seller is the Norwegian private equity fund Herkules. Harding is one of the leading suppliers of lifesaving equipment and lifecycle services for maritime installations and ships. Cavotec, ABB Partner on Shore-to-ship Power
