Giuseppe Bottiglieri Files for Creditor Protection

Italian cargo shipowner Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Co. SpA  has filed for court protection while it works on a restructuring plan  reports WSJ. The Naples company cited "the unprecedented world freight market crisis" that has weighed on profits across the industry. Giuseppe Bottiglieri said it has prepared a new business and financial plan that is now under discussion with creditors. With 15 ships flying the Italian flag properties, the company accounts for 7% of the carrying capacity of the Italian fleet. Giuseppe Bottiglieri operates 11 dry-bulk carriers and four petroleum product tankers with an estimated value of $190 million. It wasn't known how many were at sea or the value of the cargo they moved.

DOJ: Environmental Charges for Italian Shipping Company

Italian Shipping Company and Chief Engineer Charged with Environmental Crimes and Obstruction of Justice. Italian-based shipping company Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Company S.P.A., owner and operator of the Motor Vessel Bottiglieri Challenger, and Vito La Forgia, the vessel’s chief engineer, have been charged in a four-count indictment with the illegal dumping of waste oil and oil-contaminated waste water in violation of the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships (APPS), conspiracy and two counts of obstruction of justice, the Department of Justice announced today.

Bottiglieri Group Reorganizes

The Bottiglieri group companies, Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa, Bottigkieri Tankers Spa, Navimar Srl and Finship Srl have announced an internal reorganization. Grazia Bottiglieri becomes president of Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa with Michele Bottiglieri as vice president and Giuseppe Mauro Rizzo and Orsola Bottiglieri as managing directors. Bottiglieri di Navigazione is owned bty the families of Roberto Rizzo, Grazia Bottiglieri, Ugo De Carlini, Orsola Bottiglieri, Michele Bottiglieri and Rosaria Savastano. A newco Giuseppe Bottiglieri di Navigazione Spa is owned by the families of Giuseppe Bottiglieri and Gaetano Cozzolino with Giuseppe Bottiglieri as president and Gaetano Cozzolino and Mariella Bottiglieri as managing directors.

Giuseppe Bottiglieri Buys Two Bulk Carriers

Giuseppe Bottiglieri purchased two more newbuildings at Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Yangzijiang. The President of Giuseppe Bottiglieri di Navigazione SpA shipowning company said that the two bulkcarriers are sister vessels of the six Post Panamax (92.500 dwt) ordered last January. According to the company, in an effort to build the company’s modern fleet of bulk carriers, this $100m investment in the dry cargo sector comes after an order that was placed in January.

Confitarma and Jiangsu Yards Sign Contract

A group of Naples ship owners have come to an agreement with the Chinese yard Jiangsu New Yanagzijang Construction Co. for the building of 16 90,000 ton bulk carriers. Nicola Coccia Confitarma president with a group of Naples ship-owners and representatives of the Chinese yard signed the agreement on June 20. The order was placed by Perseveranza di navigazione,d’Amato di navigazione spa, Gestioni Amatoriali spa, la Giuseppe Bottiglieri di navigazione spa e Liberty Marittime International who thus become de facto partners in the Chinese yard. Promotor of the deal was Confitarma president Nicola Coccia who was able to bring together the needs of a number of owners in a single yard an unusual fact for shipowners but producing an excellent price.
