As of November 4, 2013, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal will expand its intermodal network by adding rail shuttle services between Duisburg (D) and Copenhagen (DK).

Daily rail shuttle services connecting our Duisburg intermodal terminal to Copenhagen, via Odense commence on November 4. Service start-up creates a new intermodal link between Copenhagen and destinations in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal is offering an environmentally friendly and sustainable transport solution for unitised cargoes, fully integrated in Samskip’s pan-European multimodal network via rail, shortsea, road and inland waterways.

Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal has been offering rail services between Scandinavia and the continent since 2003, introducing the first ‘through going’ locomotive operation on the routes in 2008.

In combination with its existing rail shuttles to and from Göteborg, Helsingborg, Nässjö and Katrineholm, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal operates a total of 42 rail shuttles per week, making it one of the leading intermodal service providers to and from Sweden.

“This expansion will serve existing intermodal users even better and offer a new opportunity to potential customers,” said Johan Logtenberg, MD of Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal.

Combining the rail services with modern trucking equipment, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal offers a green and sustainable door–door transport service, covering today’s cargo flows and future growth.
