Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (OOCEP) shipped its first crude oil cargo from the Musandam gas plant (MGP) with the support of UAE-based Marsol International. OOCEP, a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C exported 300,000 barrels of crude oil as part of the operation, which were fully processed at the MGP on May 4 in Oman. Marsol International, a UAE-based global marine solutions provider focused on the offshore oil terminal market and related infrastructure, has been awarded two contracts in Oman. The first contract involves a Single Point Mooring (SPM) change out, including the removal of the existing aging structures followed by installation of new buoys. The second contract involves providing and managing all marine and offshore activities related to tanker loadings via an SPM offshore marine terminal, including marine works, vessels, equipment and manpower.

For Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), 2014 marked the 101st year of its activities. The classification society said 2014 also marked a landmark year, as the construction of the world's first Arctic LNG carrier began to RS class. The new 300-meter-long ship carrying liquefied natural gas in membrane tanks will be able to operate in ice of about two meters thick. There are more than 150 vessels that are ordered or already under construction to the RS class with the total gross tonnage of about 2 million, RS noted, of which 11 are gas carriers, 21 icebreakers and specialized support vessels,  27 tankers, 30 tugs and seven fixed offshore ice-resistant platforms.

Traders are shipping West African crude to the United States to store the oil until prices recover, as the global glut forces them to source any tanks available and as seaborne cargoes are able to compete better on price with U.S. crude. Oil firms including Swiss-based Glencore, Italian energy major ENI and Canada's biggest oil company Suncor have lined up ships to take at least 10 million barrels of West African crude to North America, ship brokers say, with freight bookings and tanker tracking also showing the moves. ABB wins a contract worth about US$40-million to extend the export terminal of the eni (Energy Rifinery Co.) refinery in Taranto. The eni refinery is located in the “Mar Grande” bay on the Ionian Sea in southern Italy. The contract is part of eni’s plan to improve the refinery infrastructure and to ensure a reliable connection with the onshore Tempa Rossa oil plant. The refinery is located at the export terminal and is connected to the oil field through an underground pipeline. The plan includes the extension of an existing pier. “This new project will help to improve the local oil transportation infrastructure for eni,” said Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB’s Process Automation division. The pier will have five loading arms, with a transfer capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per hour.

Keppel Singmarine has clinched contracts worth a total of $164.3m for two vessels from LUKOIL – Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL), a subsidiary of Russian oil company, LUKOIL Oil Company. The parent company of Keppel Singmarine, Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has also signed an agreement with LUKOIL for further co-operation in potential newbuilding of offshore rigs, special purpose offshore facilities and vessels to service LUKOIL's offshore oil terminal vessels at Keppel O&M shipyards around the world. The vessels will be delivered to their owner between end 2007 and mid 2008.
