Kongsberg Sim-based eLearning Solutions for MAAP

Kongsberg Digital reports that the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) has adopted its new K-Sim eLearning solution, as well as commissioning installation of a cutting-edge K-Sim Safety firefighting simulator at its premises in the Philippines.K-Sim Connect has provided more than 23,000 cloud-based simulations to customers worldwide this year.MAAP – a leading institution of excellence for maritime education and training in the Asia-Pacific region – has for decades been a pioneer in the use of new simulation-based training tools.

MPHRP Informs Seafarers of Services in Philippines

A two-day Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Awareness Campaign updated the seafarer public in Luneta Park, Manila of MPHRP’s programmes and services led by MPHRP Regional Director for Philippines/Southeast Asia Rancho Villavicencio and MPHRP Assistant Programme Director Hennie la Grange, July 23-24. In partnership with SEACOMS Maritime Development International, Inc., the Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Programme Philippines held its awareness campaign for the second time in Manila where a seafarer crowd was gathered to be informed of the programme’s existence and how MPHRP assists piracy survivors and their families locally.

MRM Facilitator Training Concludes in Manila

A successful Maritime Resource Management (MRM) Facilitator training event concluded today in Makati City, Manila, Philippines as 22 participants from China, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore had gathered for the two-day event held at the European Training & Competence Center (ETCC) Inc. to be trained and certified as MRM Facilitators. Martin Hernqvist of ALL Academy, trainer at the event, said the event was a success thanks to the active participation from the attendees.

Malaysian Contract for Kongsberg

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract by HJS Maritime SDN. BHD, Malaysia to deliver two Polaris Ship's Bridge Simulators for use in a new centre of excellence being built for the Malaysian Marine Department. IMEC Appoints Dalela Training Manager

Captain Anand Dalela is to join IMEC beginning 1 January 2009 as its representative Training Manager in the Philippines. The International Maritime Employers' Committee (IMEC) is an employers organization based in London. Captain Dalela will be taking over from Captain Cedric D’Souza who will be moving on to new opportunities in the United States. Captain Dalela has experience sailing aboard product tankers, VLCCs and bulk carriers, having commenced his career as a cadet in 1993. On passing the examinations required to attain his Master’s Certificate in 2002 he continued sailing as Chief Officer until 2005 when he was given his first command of the bulk carrier Federal Rhine.
