Nakilat Net Profit Down for the Last Nine Month
Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), the largest LNG ship owner in the world, concluded its financial results for the nine-month period ended 30 September 2017, with a net profit of QR 607 million compared to QR 749 million of the same period last year in 2016. The lower profit was mainly attributed to the effect of changing the estimated scrap value of vessels in accordance with applicable International Accounting Standards and the lower number of charter hire days in the current period compared to the same period last year (2016 was a leap year). On the other hand, the company effectively maintained its operating expenses and reduced its finance costs due to timely repayment of the periodic loan instalments.
Nakilat, Shell Completes First Phase of LNG Carrier Management Transition
Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL) a wholly owned subsidiary of Nakilat and Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell), have completed the first phase of what will be the world’s largest management transition of LNG carriers. The Q-Max LNG carrier Al Mafyar was the 10th vessel to transition from Shell to NSQL management in 10 months, bringing about the successful completion of the first phase. Al Mayfar is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas, with a cargo capacity of 266,370 cubic meters. The vessel built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries was delivered in May 2009 and has been in service ever since. This latest vessel transition brings the fleet size managed by NSQL to 18 vessels, comprising of 14 LNG and 4 LPG carriers.
Nakilat Ends H12017 with $112 Mln Net Profit
Qatar Gas Transport Company (known as “Nakilat”, which means carriers in Arabic) recorded its financial results for the first half of the year ended June 30, 2017 with a net profit of QR 409 million ($112 million) compared to QR 501 million ($137 million) of the same period last year in 2016. Nakilat takes over first LNG carrier management from Shell
Nakilat has announced the management takeover of Q-Max LNG carrier Mozah from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO). This is the first vessel to be transitioned as part of the phased management transition. Mozah will also be the first Q-Max LNG carrier to be managed in-house by NSQL, which is currently managing 4 Q-Flex LNG and 4 large LPG carriers. Nakilat Transitions LNG Fleet from Shell
Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL) signed an agreement with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell) to begin the planned phased transition of the management of Nakilat’s LNG fleet from Shell to NSQL. Shell has provided a range of shipping services to Nakilat’s LNG fleet since it was established in 2006, including the ship management of 14 Q-Max and 11 Q-Flex LNG carriers and the sharing of Shell’s Shipping & Maritime expertise. Nakilat Delivers Steady Performance in Q3
Nakilat has announced its financial results for the third quarter ended 30 September 2016, where the Company’s net profit reached QR 749 million compared to QR 757 million for the same period last year. Nakilat to Build 11 Tugs for New Doha Port
Qatar’s New Port Project (NPP) has signed an agreement with Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) to construct 11 workboats for use at the port. HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and HE Mr. Jassim Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, witnessed the signing ceremony between NDSQ and NPP, on Wednesday, 17th December 2014. The contracts were signed by Eng. Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, Chairman of NDSQ and Managing Director of Nakilat, and Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji CEO Qatar Ports Management Company & NPP General Supervisor. NDSQ will build four 29m-long Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tug boats, three 16m-long mooring boats and four15m-long glass reinforced plastic (GRP) pilot boats.

GDI Awards N-KOM US$110-M Contracts
Gulf Drilling International (GDI) Limited, a subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS), the largest oilfield service company in Qatar, has awarded two contracts worth US110 million to Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), a joint venture shipyard between Nakilat and Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M). The first contract is for the construction of a self-propelled and self-elevating liftboat, which is customised for field transit operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in water depths of up to 65 meters. When completed at the end of 2015, the liftboat will provide accommodation and platform support services for a customer with operations in Qatar.

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has laid the keels for two 16m-long Stan Tugs, part of a seven-vessel order for marine services provider Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller (NSW). A small ceremony to mark this important step in the shipbuilding process was held at NDSQ’s facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar’s Port of RasLaffan. The two twin-screw Stan Tugs have a bollard pull of 15 tons and will be used for mooring vessels visiting the Port of RasLaffan.

Qatar Shipyard, Nakilat, JV's Get US$160-million Funding
Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) QSC has provided financing for the two Nakilat shipyard joint ventures: Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) for US $120m and US $40m respectively. Nakilat is a Qatari marine transport company providing the essential transportation link in the State of Qatar’s LNG supply chain. The company says its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 56 LNG vessels. Nakilat also manages and operates four large LPG carriers.
