SeaBubbles Selects Spearā€™s Trident Battery Solution

U.S.-based Spear Power Systems said it will provide its Trident marine battery systems for SeaBubbles' 100% electric, hybrid hydrogen and batteries flying boats. The first-of-its-kind water vehicle designed by France-based manufacturer SeaBubbles has been developed to help alleviate heavy congestion in cities close to bodies of water.The SeaBubbles flying boats have already completed test runs in Geneva, Paris and the Mediterranean basin, and have subsequently been chosen to receive funding from the European Unionā€™s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

'Engine as a Weapon' Symposium Planned

Organised by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) the programme for the 5th Symposium is published. The symposium programme for the fifth 'Engine As A Weapon Symposium (EAAW V)', with its theme ā€˜Delivering Military Effect: A holistic approach to combat and platform system integrationā€™, and featuring presentations by experts in combat and platform system design from home and overseas has now been published. Dr Mark Townley, Combat Systems Director, BAE Systems Maritime ā€“ Naval Ships will deliver the keynote address on the opening morning of the symposium.

BAE, Seebyte Sign Deal for Autonomous Maritime Ops

BAE Systems and SeeByte Ltd of Edinburgh, Scotland have signed a Cooperation Agreement to pursue business opportunities associated with the UKā€™s Mine Counter Measure (MCM), Hydrography and Patrol Capability (MHPC) Program. BAE Systems Mission Systems and SeeByte have identified a shared vision for the managed introduction of autonomous computing into future military mission systems through the exploitation of ā€˜openā€™ or modular, yet secure, architectures. Thus they intend to work together to develop fully integrated MCM mission systems offering innovative, flexible and adaptable solutions for the adoption of unmanned systems into future MCM operations. These will be designed to minimise human operator load whilst providing maximum operational support to the Command Team.
