London Fire Brigade Adds Two New Fireboats

The London Fire Brigade has added a pair of new fireboats on the Thames as part of a £40 million investment made by City Hall to expand the Brigade’s fleet of equipment and vehicles.The new 16.2-meter-long boats, Tanner and Errington, are named after Auxiliary Fireman Harry Errington and Auxiliary Firewoman Gillian Tanner, who in the Second World War were both awarded medals for bravery. The call signs for the boats are H23A and H23B, a reference to Adam Mere and Billy Faust, two London firefighters who died fighting a fire in 2004.Built by Holyhead Marine

GAC, Forth Join Forces to offer Mooring, Terminal Solutions

GAC UK and Forth Logistics Marine Services (FLMS) have formed a partnership to provide mooring and related terminal services around the UK. Formed on the back of a long term contract in the River Forth with an oil major to be announced later in the year, the pairing combines FLMS’s years of marine experience with GAC’s expertise and reputation for integrity as the leading ship agent in the UK and in the River Forth. According to GAC UK MD Herman Jorgensen, the winning combination will provide “safe, strong operations with unrivalled 24/7 customer focus”. The fleet of six line handling vessels includes two new Alnmaritec Wave Handler vessels currently being built at the company’s Port of Blyth yard. Three more vessels are en route from Qatar a sixth is coming from Australia this autumn.

UK-built Mussel Boat for Offshore Shellfish

U.K. based boat builder Alnmaritec announced it has designed and built a new 15.2-meter aluminum Wave Farmer 1400 mussel farming boat, Alysée, for U.K. shellfish farmer Offshore Shellfish. Developed from Alnmaritec’s Wave Train catamaran hull form, Alysée has been configured and customized to meet the specific needs of Offshore Shellfish, including a number of precise pieces of equipment, the builder said. Concordia Baby to See Mother(ship) for the First Time

Concordia Baby, the latest vessel to be completed by specialist workboat builder Alnmaritec, is heading to the Falkland Islands to be installed onto the mother ship M/V Concordia Bay. Operated by Workboat Services Ltd., MV Concordia Bay provides service as a passenger and cargo ferry within the archipelago. A landing craft measuring 45.5m, she is able to lower her bow ramp on suitable beaches, however many of the islands are difficult to reach and therefore there is a requirement for a smaller craft

Seychelles Workboat Delivered by Alnmaritec

Blyth based boat builder Alnmaritec is celebrating after the latest of its newly built aluminium workboats was delivered to the Seychelles, before being promptly blessed in a ceremony organized by owner Eden Island Marina. The third in class of the successful Wave Hauler series, the 6m boat will be employed at the Eden Island Super-yacht marina in the Western Indian Ocean where she will be expected to fulfil a number of duties, as General Manager at Eden Island Christophe Houareau explains, “We have named the boat ‘TI TUG’ and she will be used for line handling, diver support, emergency fire response and of course tug duties. Smit Lamnalco Orders Vessels to meet Shell Gabon Deal

Smit Lamnalco renewed its marine support services contract with oil major Shell in Gabon, a deal that has triggered investment in three auxiliary vessel newbuildings, according to the company. The five year contract renewal extends a relationship which dates back to the 1990s and covers support for Shell Gabon’s tanker operations at the remote Gamba Terminal, south of Port Gentil. “The trust Shell Gabon has in our services has sustained through the 2011 merger of Lamnalco and SMIT Terminals.” says Aart van der Wal, Managing Director Smit Lamnalco Africa. The renewal covers the deployment, crewing and management of four Smit Lamnalco support vessels, with three newbuilds ordered in mid-November to replace existing tonnage.

'Rix Sea Shuttle Vessel'

First of five boats ordered by Rix Sea Shuttle launched in Grimsby, NE England. The vessel will be employed in the transport of maintenance engineers to and from offshore wind turbines in the North Sea. Each of the aluminium vessels will be crewed and operated by Rix and are designed to carry up to 12 technicians at a speed of up to 25 knots. The remaining boats are to be delivered next year and in 2014, representing a  £7.5m investment by the Hull-based company in the UK’s burgeoning renewable industry.

Faroe Islands first for Alnmaritec

Alnmaritec, the specialist aluminium boat builder based in Northumberland, recently announced delivery of the first of boat that it has built to operate in the Faroe Islands. The ‘Krossteinur’ is one of the popular Wave Angler class from Alnmaritec and she is a rugged and versatile support catamaran built to withstand the rigours of operation in the harsh environment of a fish farm offshore of the Faroe Islands. She is fitted with a 4.5 tonne metre deck crane and a 2 tonne hydraulic capstan and a deck mounted 6.5 kva generator set. She has a resiliently mounted wheelhouse to minimise noise and vibration and she is fitted with twin Cummins QSB 420bhp engines coupled to Hamilton 322 jets featuring the ‘Blue Arrow’ vector control system for precise manoeuvrability around the fish cages.

First class Captain from Alnmaritec

Alnmaritec, the specialist aluminium boat builder based in Northumberland, recently announced the delivery of the first of its new ‘Wave Captain’ class of Wind Farm Support Vessels. The new design is a derivative of the larger Wave Master class vessels which have proved highly successful in service and features the unique high efficiency hull form developed by Alnmaritec over the last year using extensive CFD modelling and towing tank testing. New Aquaculture Workboat from Alnmaritec

Alnmaritec, the specialist aluminium boat builder based in Northumberland, recently announced the completion of ‘Shelagh Jane’ a new aquaculture workboat for service on a fish farm on the West Coast of Scotland. Alnmaritec Launches Wind Farm Support Vessel

Alnmaritec recently successfully launched a new multi-purpose offshore wind farm support vessel, the Ocean Wind 5. The vessel is a variant of the extremely popular Wave Commander class from Alnmaritec. The ship measures 16m x 7m and is fitted with twin Scania DI16 engines, giving her cruising speeds of over 24. On deck, the ship is fitted with a payload area both fore and aft, a substantial moon pool; internally, it has a survey station and comfortable accommodation for both passengers and crew. It has a separate raised wheelhouse area, providing all round views from the helm position and the survey station, while in the main accommodation, it has seating for 12, mess area, galley and WC; below decks, it has two sleeping cabins.

Alnmaritec Delivers Logistics Supply Vessel

Alnmaritec Sends Twin Vessels to Iraq

One of the Arttawi sisters on trials. Late last year two unusual vessels from Alnmaritec arrived in Iraq on their way to serve in Basrah. The two sisters, Arttawi I & II are modified Wave Worker class boats designed for oil spill protection duties at a busy oil terminal. The boats are 12m long with a catamaran hull form and carry a hydraulic oil boom deployment reel as well as a range of oil recovery and dispersant equipment and recovered oil storage. The spacious aft deck has a hydraulic knuckle boom crane and the boats are fitted with twin 25KVA generator sets providing a significant on-board power capability. The air conditioned accommodation provides sleeping accommodation for four crew together with toilet, shower and galley facilities.

Alnmaritec’s New ‘Wave Force’

Earlier this year, the Alnmaritec Wave Handler class boat ‘Wave Force’ commenced line handling duties at a bulk carrier terminal near Dampier in Western Australia. This is the second of its line handling vessels that Alnmaritec has supplied to this region. The first has been successfully operating for over a year on an iron ore terminal at Point Lambert. The Wave Force is the first of the new larger Wave Handler class from Alnmaritec. At just over 12m, she is 2m longer than the previous Wave Handler boats and has 1000bhp of installed power.

Alnmaritec Supplies New Pollution Control Boats

Alnmaritec Limited, which is recognised as one of the UK's leading specialist boat builders, has recently delivered two new oil pollution control boats for operation in Asia. The new ‘Wave Skimmer’ class boats were delivered by Alnmaritec earlier this year to Elastec American Marine who also supplied all of the oil recovery and storage equipments on board. These boats follow on from the successful Wave Provider class boat that was delivered by Alnmaritec to Elastec (a major manufacturer of oil spill equipment) in 2010, also for operations in Asia.
