Retlif Expands Solar Testing Capabilities
Independent testing and strategic compliance organization Retlif Testing Laboratories has inaugurated phase one of an expansion program to offer more solar radiation testing, including both heat and photochemical testing, to military and commercial product manufacturers. The first of two planned dedicated Solar Radiation Test Chamber upgrades has been completed at Retlif’s Harleysville, Pa. testing laboratory, with phase two scheduled for third quarter 2018 at Retlif’s Ronkonkoma, N.Y. headquarters.

New XWave Frequency Converter
Ametek Programmable Power introduced the Elgar XWave high-power AC power source/frequency convertor. The design of the XWave Series utilizes 10kW power modules to provide incremental output levels from 30kVA to 480kVA. A single cabinet can provide 120kVA with multiple cabinets configured for outputs from 120kVA to 480kVA. Its interchangeable components facilitate on-site repairs and, should future requirements change, permit field upgrades and improvements. The XWave provides up to 150% of rated output current for up to 7 seconds to handle loads with heavy in-rush currents, and it has a line drip compensation feature to overcome distribution losses. Standard models are offered with single or three-phase outputs in a variety of single or dual output ranges.
