1775-The Continental Congress adopted "the American continental army." Happy Birthday, Army! The Army's motto is: "This We’ll Defend." 1906-First regulatory fishing law for Alaska passed. The new law was enforced by the Revenue Cutter Service. 1941-The CGC Duane rescued 46 survivors from the torpedoed SS Tresillian. 1996-The CGC Mellon seized the Polish fishing vessel Admiral Arciszewski after it was found to be illegally fishing in U.S. waters 385 miles northwest of Dutch Harbor.
