Gunvor Invests in Artemis to Build Zero-emissions Ferries
Energy trader Gunvor Group has bought a minority stake in Artemis Technologies to build high-speed ferries capable of carrying up to 350 passengers with zero emissions, the company said on Thursday.The new vessel, called the Artemis eFoiler, will produce savings of up to 90% on fuel compared with traditional diesel ferries. The British firm received a £33 million grant from the British government earlier this year.The hydrofoils will run on batteries recharged by renewable energy sources.

America's Cup Contestant AC72 Launched
The launch of Artemis Racing’s first AC72 catamaran marks a major milestone in the team’s quest for the America’s Cup. Thousands of design and build hours came together when the Artemis Racing AC72 was launched at the team’s base in Alameda, to be christened by Barbro Osher, Consul General of Sweden in San Francisco and Godmother of Artemis. The hulls were built in Sweden, trucked to the base in Valencia, Spain, in spring of this year and then travelled by cargo ship to San Francisco only to arrive in August.

The America’s Cup World Series, San Francisco, is part of what is being billed as the busiest week of events in the city’s history. “We have a challenging program this week,” said regatta director Iain Murray. “We’re working with Fleet Week, so most of our racing will be later in the day. On Super Sunday we’ll be participating in the air show with Fleet Week. The air show will start and then stop, we’ll sail our Super Sunday fleet race (scheduled to start at 1:55 pm PDT), and then the air show will resume.

Altair's CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) suite was used by Italian designers [AB]structures to structurally design the Groupama Sailing Team yacht Groupama 4, winner of the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race. The yacht, skippered by Franck Cammas, claimed victory in the Volvo Ocean Race on July 9 in Galway, Ireland, after nine months and more than 37,000 nautical miles sailed around the world under the harshest conditions. It has been a busy year for [AB]structures, taking on the structural design of three of the six yachts in the 2011-2012 edition of the race.
