Third Cape-class Patrol Boat Delivered to the Australian Navy

Austal USA received the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) Excellence in Safety award during SCAâs annual meeting in Washington, D.C.SCA, the national association representing the U.S. shipyard industry, honors companies with annual safety awards for enhancement of operations and promotion of safety and accident prevention. Austal Celebrates Christening Of Future USS Tulsa
Austal Limited has announced that Austal USA has hosted the christening of the future USS Tulsa, the 8th Independence variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) designed and constructed for the United States Navy (USN). Keel-laying Ceremony for USS Tulsa (LCS 16)
Austal hosted a keel-laying ceremony for the future USS Tulsa (LCS 16) here today, marking the first significant milestone in the shipâs construction. This ship is the sixth Independence-variant littoral combat ship (LCS) built at Austal under the 10-ship, $3.5 billion block buy contract awarded to Austal in 2010. Ship sponsor Kathy Taylor, former Tulsa mayor and CEO of ImpactTulsa, authenticated the keel by welding her initials onto an aluminum plate that will be placed in the hull of the ship. âIt amazes me how fast this ship is coming together.â Austal USA President Craig Perciavalle said. The Sultanate of Omanâs National Ferries Company (NFC) awards Austal a new 12-month vessel maintenance contract. Austal Launches New Cruise Yacht
Austal USA launched its fifth vessel from its yard in Mobile, Ala., a 135-ft., monohull, on March 31. This vessel, to be delivered in May to Cloud Nine of New York, is the second dinner cruise yacht built at Austalâs shipbuilding facility. The vesselâs owner, New York-based Cloud Nine, specializes in offering private, luxury dinner cruises for social and corporate groups and has developed a large base of repeat customers. It currently operates an 85-ft., dinner cruise monohull and this new, larger Austal USA vessel, will enable the company to cater to larger corporate groups and add their signature touch of freshly made dinners prepared onboard: all meals are cooked by their chef in the well equipped galley below decks. Navy to Name Ship USS Gabrielle Giffords
Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced Feb. 10 that the next variant littoral combat ship (LCS) will be named USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10). The selection of Gabrielle Giffords, designated LCS 10, honors the former congresswoman from who is known for supporting the military and veterans, advocating for renewable energy and championing border security. Giffords recently resigned from Congress to recover from wounds she sustained in an assassination attempt in 2011.
