BAE Systems Supports Thai Navy Patrol Boat Build

BAE Systems announced it has signed a contract with Bangkok Dock to assist in the licensed construction of a second 90-meter Offshore Patrol Vessel for the Royal Thai Navy. Under the agreement, BAE Systems will provide engineering support and advice during construction of the vessel in Thailand. Nigel Stewart, Commercial Director, BAE Systems’ Naval Ships business, said, “We’re looking forward to building and strengthening our relationship with Thailand’s shipbuilding industry.

BAE Systems to Build OPVs for UK Navy

BAE Systems has been awarded a £348 million contract by the U.K. Ministry of Defense to construct three new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) for the U.K. Royal Navy. The new 90-meter vessels will be built at BAE Systems’ facilities in Glasgow and will provide additional capability for the Royal Navy. Based on a proven design, the ships will be used to support counter-terrorism, counter-piracy and anti-smuggling operations in the waters around the U.K. and will protect other U.K. interests abroad.

Thai Navy Accepts BAE Offshore Patrol Vessel

The Royal Thai Navy has become the latest navy to take delivery of an offshore patrol vessel designed by BAE Systems. HTMS Krabi was constructed by Bangkok Dock through a technology transfer agreement with BAE Systems, which supports Thailand’s national policy of self-sufficiency by growing its own sustainable shipbuilding capability. Her formal handover marked the completion of the first ship to be constructed at Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard and was attended by members of the Thai Royal Family.

Thai Offshore Patrol Boat Launched

A BAE Systems designed Offshore Patrol Vessel being built by the Royal Thai Navy has been launched at a ceremony at the Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard. The launch of HTMS Krabi on Friday (2 December) was conducted by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and comes just 15 months after the vessel’s keel laying ceremony in August 2010. Under a technology transfer agreement, signed in June 2009, BAE Systems supplied the design of its 90 metre Offshore Patrol Vessel, which its industrial partner Bangkok Dock has adapted to meet the specific requirements of the Royal Thai Navy.

AVEVA Marine Solutions Serve Thailand, India

AVEVA Group plc (LSE: AVV), provider of engineering design and information management solutions to the plant, power and marine industries, announced that Thai-based The Bangkok Dock Company (1957) Limited, and Indian- based SKA Marine Services Pvt Ltd. have concluded contracts for the use of AVEVA Marine solutions within their respective yards.

Servowatch Supplies Advanced IPMS to Thai Navy

Servowatch Systems Limited, UK-based marine automation systems engineering company, announced success in securing the contract to deliver an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for a planned series of Offshore Patrol Vessels to be delivered to the Royal Thai Navy by The Bangkok Dock Co. (1957) Ltd. The IPMS shall include ship alarm, monitoring, power management, propulsion control, battle damage control functions and navigation systems integration. The design is based upon the package delivered on the original design of this vessel from BAE Systems.
