Austal announced the United States Department of Defense has awarded Austal USA US$10,252,142 for a cost-plus-award fee against a previously awarded Basic Ordering Agreement. The order provides engineering and management services for advanced planning and design in support of the post shakedown availability for Littoral Combat Ship, USS Manchester (LCS14). Austal will provide program management, advanced planning, engineering, design, material kitting and subcontract management. Austal Limited announced it has secured an order worth nearly $11.8 million from the U.S. Navy to provide engineering and management services for advance planning and design in support of the Post Shakedown Availability for the Littoral Combat Ship Montgomery (LCS 8). Included in the latest listing of contracts awarded by the US Department of Defense, Navy, are two contracts with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine. This is a $28,716,385 delivery order under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-12-G-4330) for the accomplishment of fleet maintenance sustainment support for fiscal 2014. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by September 2014. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, Calif., is the ordering/contracting activity.

Recent Navy contracts include awards to General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, and to BAE Systems. General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $9,011,625 cost-plus-award-fee order to previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-13-G-2316) to provide material and labor in support of the post-shakedown availability (PSA) for USS Independence (LCS 2). This order is for the execution of LCS 2's PSA phase two, and will provide labor and material support services for the vessel.

Among the latest US Department of Defense, Navy contracts, General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $7,526,038 cost-plus-award-fee modificationc for work on Littoral Combat Ship 'USS Independence'. The contract announced is additional to the previously awarded task order under a Basic Ordering Agreement (N00024-09-G-2301 ER09) to provide engineering and management services for advance planning and design in support of the post-shakedown availability for the USS Independence (LCS 2).

The Department of Defense anounce contract awards to Huntington Ingalls, Lockheed Martin, & Electric Boat. Huntington Ingalls Inc., Newport News, Va., is being awarded an $18,232,027 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-08-C-2110) for special tooling, special test equipment, and supplier related vendor support services supporting the Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) construction. The work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to complete in September 2015. Fiscal 2011 Shipbuilding and Conversion, Navy funding in the amount of $18,232,027 will be obligated at time of award. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington D.C., is the contracting activity.

Donjon Marine said that Paul Hankins, formerly President of Donjon-SMIT, LLC, has joined Donjon as Vice President of Operations-Salvage & Engineering Division. This contract is for skilled tradesmen support to four chief of naval operations submarine maintenance availabilities scheduled to be performed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Ships scheduled to undergo repairs include USS San Juan (SSN 751); USS Pasadena (SSN 752); USS Miami (SSN 755); and USS Virginia (SSN 774). Work will be performed in Portsmouth, N.H., and is scheduled to be completed by September 2012. Contract funds in the amount of $11,919,072 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $16,620,037 cost-plus-fixed fee order under previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-10-G-4314) to support nuclear carrier repair work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard during on-going availabilities. This contract is for skilled tradesmen support to two chief of naval operations carrier maintenance availabilities. Scheduled to undergo repairs include USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is scheduled to be completed by July 2012. Contract funds in the amount of $16,620,037 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, Groton, Conn., is the contracting activity.

Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $9,218,711 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract under previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-10-G-4314) to support submarine repair work at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard on SSN 688-class submarines during on-going availabilities. This contract is for skilled tradesmen support to three Chief of Naval Operations submarine maintenance availabilities. Ships scheduled to undergo repairs include USS Key West (SSN 722); USS Columbus (SSN 762); and USS Chicago (SSN 721). The work will be performed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is scheduled to be completed in February 2011. This contract was not competitively procured. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The orders to be issued are for PSA planning and support services and will include advance planning, engineering support, on-site engineering liaison, craft assistance, the ordering and processing of required material in support of PSAs, and the accomplishment of emergent industrial availabilities. Emergent industrial availabilities include, but are not limited to, restricted availabilities, d rydocking availabilities, and technical availabilities which may be required from time of ship's delivery through the SCN Obligation Work and Limiting Date (OWLD).

The orders to be issued arefor PSA planning and support services and will include advance planning, engineering support, on-site engineering liaison, craft assistance, the ordering and processing of required material in support of PSAs, and the accomplishment of emergent industrial availabilities. Emergent industrial availabilities include, but are not limited to, restricted availabilities, drydocking availabilities, and technical availabilities which may be required from time of ship's delivery through the SCN obligation work and limiting date.

BAE Systems Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii, is being awarded a $9,982,999 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-4408) for repairs and maintenance to various shipboard systems on the USS Port Royal (CG-73). Work will be performed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Contract funds in the amount of $11,140 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, is the contracting activity. Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (NGSB), Inc., Pascagoula, Miss., is being awarded a $31,800,000 basic ordering agreement for Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) for DDG 51 Class Destroyers.

Northrop Grumman, Corp., Bethpage, N.Y., is being awarded a $5,958,119 order against a previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00019-00-G-0280), for E-2T training for the Government of Taiwan under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed in Bethpage, N.Y. (90 percent) and St. Augustine, Fla. (10 percent), and is to be completed in June 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Donjon Marine Co., Inc., a provider of multi-faceted marine services including marine salvage, heavy lift, dredging and related emergency response services, was contracted under a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) by the U.S. Coast Guard to provide emergency salvage services for two tugboats that sank on July 28, 2008 at a pier adjacent to the Schuylkill River near the Girard Point Bridge outside Philadelphia, PA. At the time of the sinking of the Scooby Doo and Big Boy, reportedly more than 2,000 gallons of petroleum based contaminants were released into the water. Divers have reduced the out flow from the tugs but due to the condition of the vessels, the flow cannot be stopped until the vessels are salvaged.

General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $6,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee order (L8-92) under previously awarded Basic Ordering Agreement (N00024-05-G-4117) to support submarine repair work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This effort will accomplish maintenance and repair work on USS Scranton (SSN 756) during its Drydocking Selected Restricted Availability, USS Alaska (SSBN 732) during its Engineered Refueling Overhaul, and USS Tucson (SSN 770) during its Depot Modernization Period. Work will take place in Norfolk, Va. (99 percent) and Groton, Conn. (1 percent), and is expected to be completed by January 2008. Contract funds in the amount of $6,000,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Vericor Power Systems, Inc., Alpharetta, Georgia, is being awarded a $5,273,400 priced order under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00104-00-G-A118) for the conversion of four NSN 2S 2835-01-0166 P2, ETF40B Marine Gas Turbine Engines. Work will be performed in Alpharetta, Ga., and is expected to be completed by March 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
