Wärtsilä to Supply Direct Electric Heating for Chevron African Offshore Oilfield
Wärtsilä was contracted to supply its Direct Electric Heating (Wärtsilä DEH) system for Chevron Overseas Congo Limited's Lianzi offshore development project, located off the Republic of Congo and Angolan coasts. The 9,000-kW system will be used to heat the 43-km subsea production pipeline between the Lianzi field and the Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) platform. The Lianzi field lies approximately 100 km off the coast of the Republic of Congo, and the BBLT platform is located in Angola. The pipeline lies in some 900 metres of water.

Deepwater African Offshore Project Sanctioned by Chevron
Chevron Corp. announce its subsidiary will develop Lianzi field in the Republics of Congo & Angola untized offshore zone. The field is located 65 miles (105 km) offshore in approximately 3,000 feet (900 meters) of water. The $2 billion development will include a subsea production system and a 27 mile (43 km) electrically heated flowline - the first of its kind at this water depth - to transport the oil from the field to the BBLT platform. First oil is expected in 2015. Once completed, the project is expected to produce up to 46,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Chevron Overseas Congo Limited is operator of the Lianzi field with a 31.25% interest, along with Total (36.75%), ENI (10%), Sonangol (10%), SNPC (7.5%) and GALP (4.5%).
Deep Offshore BBLT Comes on Stream
Total announces that the Belize field, part of Angola's deep offshore BBLT (Benguela-Belize-Lobito-Tomboco) Development, has been brought on stream in Block 14. Total has a 20% interest in BBLT, alongside Chevron (operator), Sonangol, Eni and GALP. Located 80 kilometers offshore in nearly 400 meters of water, the BBLT Development, including the first phase of the Belize and Benguela fields, comprises an integrated drilling and production platform hub facility, supported by a Compliant Piled Tower (CPT), with tieback to the Lobito-Tomboco subsea wells. CABGOC Awarded Contracts
ChevronTexaco Corp. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. Ltd. (CABGOC) has awarded three major contracts for the first phase of the development of the Benguela, Belize, Lobito and Tomboco (BBLT) fields in Angola's deepwater Block 14. BBLT will be the second major development in the highly prolific Block 14, which has yielded nine discoveries to date. The Kuito Field development, which began production in late 1999 -- 30 months after discovery -- is Angola's first deepwater producer. The BBLT Development is located 50 miles (80 kilometers) offshore in more than 1,250 feet (381 meters) of water.
