Neptune Contracts CIMC Raffles, Odfjell Drilling
Neptune Energy Norge AS has hired the newly built Beacon Atlantic semi-submersible drilling rig for up to 16 wells offshore Norway.The oil and gas producer said in a press release that it has chartered the rig from China’s rig builder CIMC Raffles, and the rig will be managed by the Norwegian offshore drilling specialist Odfjell Drilling.The commencement of the drilling operations is expected to be in Q4 2019 and the estimated duration of the firm program is 400 days. CIMC Raffles Starts Norway's Semisub Construction
Chinese semi-submersible rig specialist CIMC Raffles has kicked off construction of a deep-water unit destined for operation in Norway’s North Sea and other challenging regions such as the Arctic and Barents Sea.Construction started yesterday. Beacon Atlantic, built for Norway’s rig player North Sea Rigs to the GM4-D design, will be capable of operating in water depths of 500 metres with drilling depth up to 8000 metres. Classed classification society DNV GL, the rig with DP3 system and a drilling package provided by NOV will be built to the Norsok standards, while meeting the requirement set by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
Beacon Order Harsh Environment Offshore Rig
Beacon Holdings Group say they have ordered a harsh environment semi-submersible GM4-D rig from Yantai CIMC Raffles in Singapore, with an option to build a second rig from the shipyard. The rig they have ordered has been given the name Beacon Atlantic, and planned delivery is the fourth quarter of 2016.
