US Coast Guard Resuscitates Tanker Crewman Near Corpus Christi

The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced and resuscitated a 60-year-old man from a tanker vessel 90 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Wednesday.Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a call at approximately 9:36 a.m. from the captain of the tanker vessel Beatrice requesting a medevac for a crew member reportedly experiencing trouble breathing and abdominal pain. Seacat Nets Long-Term Charter for Seacat Rainbow at Beatrice Wind Farm

UK-based offshore vessel operator Seacat Services has said that its recently launched catamaran Seacat Rainbow has gone straight on to a long-term charter at the Beatrice offshore wind farm.Seacat Rainbow will support Operations & Maintenance activity for the service team working at the Beatrice offshore wind farm, joining its sister vessel Seacat Weatherly, which is currently on a charter with wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.Both vessels are Chartwell 24 catamaran designs by naval architect Chartwell Marine.

BPER Banca Finances Marittima Emiliana

BPER Banca SpA has completed a naval financing for ME Marittima Emiliana SpA to a second-hand tanker built by the Chinese shipyard in Guangzhou in 2012.The tanker, originally flying under a Bahamian flag, has been renamed “Lady Rina” and is currently flying under an Italian flag. Global Energy Takes Over Nigg Oil Terminal

Global Energy Group has reached an agreement with Repsol Sinopec Resources UK to take over the long-term operation of the Nigg Oil Terminal jetty under a new lease with Crown Estates Scotland.Since cessation of production from the Beatrice oil field, Repsol Sinopec has been exploring reuse options for the facilities at Nigg Oil Terminal, including the jetty.Under the agreed deal, the jetty will be operated as an extension to the Port of Nigg which has already established itself as a leading deep-water port servicing oil and gas, offshore renewables and the wider energy markets.The addition of berthage with even deeper water extends the capability of the Port and is already attracting interest from mobile drilling operators…

Giant Offshore Turbine to be Blown Up

Ireland-based SSE Renewables, a renewable energy subsidiary of Airtricity, is set to conclude decommissioning of the Hunterston National Offshore Wind Turbine Testing Facility (NOWTTF) by blowing up in a controlled explosion.The 177m-high (580ft) turbine had been used as a test site for offshore wind farms such as the massive Beatrice field in the Outer Moray Firth. The other turbine on the Hunterston site was dismantled by a crane last year."The turbine is scheduled to be brought down by controlled explosion on Thursday 19 September subject to suitable weather conditions," SSE  said.The original intention was to dismantle the components of the Siemens turbine by crane. However, a suitable method of safely dismantling the turbine by crane could not be established.

Linklaters Advises GIG on Iberdrola's EA1

Marittima Emiliana Orders Two Tankers

Marittima Emiliana, a company owned by the Amoretti family’s Armatori Group, has placed an order for the 4,500 dwt  tanker duo at Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding, a Chinese shipyard specialising in small chemical construction.Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) advised Crédit Agricole Italia on two financings for Marittima Emiliana for the construction of the two chemical tankers.Construction will start in 1H 2019m, with delivery is scheduled for 2020. This transaction represents the Amoretti family’s first newbuild order in nearly ten years.The Armatori Group is a leading company in the international maritime transportation sector, most notably for liquid petroleum and chemical cargoes. They currently operate a fleet of 11 tankers with capacities ranging from 2,700 dwt to 30,000 dwt.

Seacat Services Sends Two Workboats to Beatrice For Siemens Gamesa

Offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator, Seacat Services, has secured a further charter agreement at Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm (Beatrice). This latest 2-year contract will see Seacat Mischief and her sister vessel, Seacat Magic, provide logistical support to manufacturer and service provider Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (Siemens Gamesa) throughout the operations and maintenance (O&M) phases. The pair of 23-meter jet propulsion catamarans will be based out of Wick Harbor in Scotland, with Seacat Mischief arriving on site in mid-August, and Seacat Magic in April 2019.

Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm Produces First Power

Beatrice wind farm off the Caithness coast in Scotland has generated power for the first time, operator SSE said on Thursday.Following installation of the first 7-megawatt (MW) turbine, the wind farm exported power to the National Grid, the firm added.The 2.6 billion pound ($3.4 billion) wind farm will be completed in spring 2019.

Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (HPH) subsidiary Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST) achieved a new record when it moved 7,760 TEU on the call of MSC Beatrice. Subsea 7 S.A. informed today the details of the major(1) contract award that was first announced on 20 May 2016 . The contract was awarded by Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL)(2), for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the Beatrice wind farm turbine foundations and array cables, offshore Scotland, UK. Located in the Outer Moray Firth, the Beatrice wind turbines will generate 588 Megawatts of power once the wind farm becomes fully operational in 2019. Subsea 7, in alliance with Seaway Heavy Lifting(3), will project manage, design, engineer, fabricate and install EPCI jacket foundations and array cables for 84 wind turbines, and perform the transportation and installation of the offshore transmission modules.

GAC Supports Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Project

GAC UK has been appointed by Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) to provide essential shipping services support for the construction and installation of 84 new turbines as part of a major windfarm expansion project which will increase generating capacity almost six-fold. SHL, the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor, will design, supply and install the piled foundations, jacket substructures and inter-array cables for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) project in the Outer Moray Firth. They will also transport and install the offshore substations. Both SHL’s crane vessels will be deployed: HLV Stanislav Yudin’ from April 2017 to April 2018, HLV ‘Oleg Strashnov’ from August to October 2017 and again from May to July 2018.
