New Tug Enters Service in Indonesia
A new twin screw tug Karya Pacific 2232 was completed by PT. Karya Teknik Utama (KTU) in June and has wrapped up successful trials off Batam, Indonesia, just south of Singapore.The Karya Pacific 2232 is a TRAder 2700 steel tug designed especially for PT. Karya Teknik Utama by Robert Allan Ltd. The drive is conventional shaft propulsion, with or without nozzles. The Karya Pacific 2232 is fitted with open screws.The tug is designed for towing barges in the Indonesian archipelago where depth of water is sometimes limited.

South American river tugboats need robust rudder bushings: some 20 tug boats on the Parana River, running through Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, have been equipped with Vesconite rudder bushings. ABS to Class the World's First CNG Ship
ABS announced it has been chosen to class the world's first compressed natural gas (CNG) carrier ordered by Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state-owned power company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN). The award for the precedent-setting ship, to be built at Qingdao Wuchuan Heavy Industry's shipyard in northern China, is the latest example of ABS' leadership in the gas ship sector, where the largest share of LNG ships is presently being built to its classification standards.
ClassNK and BKI Sign Agreement on Offshore Fields
Jakarta - ClassNK entered into an agreement with Indonesian classification society, Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI). The focus of this agreement is a deepening of cooperation between the two societies in a wide range of maritime sectors. Although BKI and ClassNK have been working together in classification for over 40 years, this agreement marks a new stage in this relationship, a stage in which the two parties look to move closer together for the benefit of the Indonesian maritime industry. The scope of the agreement is wide-ranging, providing for a more proactive approach to the sharing of information and the exchange of opinions on technical and industry topics.
