ExxonMobil, Hess Announce Oil Discovery Offshore Guyana

ExxonMobil and the Hess Corporation announced an eighth oil discovery offshore Guyana at the Longtail-1 well, creating the potential for additional resource development in the southeast area of the Stabroek Block. The companies said approximately 78 meters of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoir was encountered. The well was drilled to 5,504 meters depth in 1,940 meters of water by the Stena Carron drillship on May 25, 2018. Noble Drillship Bags New Contract

Noble Corporation has been awarded new contracts for one of its drillships under which the unit will operate in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and later Suriname. The 2013-built drillship Noble Bob Douglas has been awarded a contract with Murphy Oil, which will last from early to late July. The rig’s dayrate has not been disclosed. After completion of the project, the ship will start a contract with Tullow Oil offshore Suriname from early October 2017 to early November 2017 again at an undisclosed rate. Tullow is planning to drill the high-impact Araku prospect, a large structural trap containing a potential more than 500 MMbo. Meanwhile, Shell has taken an early termination option on the Noble Hans Deul, which has been working for Shell in the UK North Sea since August 2016.

The “Green” threat to oil rig security

... emerging as an issue as alarming as piracy. Last week an oil rig in the Barents Sea hit the headlines after being successfully boarded, stopping drilling for 89 hours at an estimated cost of $1.26million. So who were the boarders; gun toting pirates threating violence and looking to steal? No, this was a “peaceful” protest executed by Greenpeace which saw 15 activists from 8 countries scale and occupy a rig to protest against drilling plans near to the Bear Island Nature Reserve.

Noble Reports 2013 Results

Noble Corporation has reported fourth quarter 2013 net income of $174 million, or $0.68 per diluted share. Results for the fourth quarter included an after tax charge of $36 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, relating to an impairment taken on the FPSO Seillean. Excluding the impairment charge, net income for the fourth quarter would have totaled $210 million, or $0.82 per diluted share. For the third quarter of 2013, the Company reported net income of $282 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, which included after tax gains totaling approximately $63 million, or $0.25 per diluted share.

Noble Corporation, contracted to Texan petroleum company, is preparing to drill one of New Zealand's deepest ever exploratory wells in the Taranaki Basin with its drill-ship 'Noble Bob Douglas'. Protesters have admitted they cannot stop drilling off the coast of New Zealand, but intend to make it difficult for them, reports TVNZ News. Offshore Drilling Contractor Noble Corp – Fleet Status Report

Noble Corporation recently released a Fleet Status Report showing that the company's 2012 guidance on average fleet unpaid operational downtime is expected to total 3.5%. The Company says it will continue to report planned periods of downtime by rig covering regulatory inspections and upgrade projects. Timing and length of planned shipyard stays are subject to, among other things, changes in Noble's and its customers’ schedule(s). North Sea Noble Ton van Langeveld: Early Oct 2012 – Early Oct 2014 at a dayrate of $275,000. Noble George Sauvageau: Early Jan 2013 – Late Dec 2013 at a dayrate of $140,000.
