AFBO to Provide Security in Arctic Waters
State of the Arctic Council to establish a new mechanism to strengthen operational cooperation and coordination of activities at sea. This is dictated by the need to provide security in the Arctic waters. The eight countries of the Arctic Council (AC), form the Arctic Coast Guard Forum (AFBO), the chief of the press service of the US Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander (captain of the third rank), Dave French. It is a joint initiative of the countries have common interests in the Arctic. The structure will include AFBO Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, Finland, Sweden and the United States. "AFBO will be focused on the operational activities of the organization, to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the Arctic sea.
RS Will Participate in IMDS 2013
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will for the first time participate in the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2013) to take place in St Petersburg from July 3-7, 2013. RS will feature design support services, construction and repair services for ships and supply vessels of different types materials and products certification, production process survey as well as management system certification of enterprises participating in the Government Defense Procurement procedures and organizations engaged in research, development, production, delivery, maintenance, operation, repair and disposal of military equipment and defense products.
Homeland Security Announces Reorganization
While visiting several hundred future Department of Homeland Security employees in Miami, Secretary Ridge highlighted the Department's strategic goals for building a nation where Americans are protected from the evil of terrorism. One of the top priorities is to integrate specific departmental functions to enhance efficiencies and create greater accountability in one seamless border service. To accomplish this, today President Bush submitted to Congress a modification to the Department of Homeland Security Reorganization Plan which establishes the organizational framework for the Department's Border and Transportation Security mission.
