MSC Reiterates No Shark Fin Policy

Swiss-based shipping line MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is taking the opportunity to clarify and raise awareness of its zero-tolerance position on shark fin carriage, following a reported shark fin discovery earlier this year, involving a booking by another container carrier."MSC is proud to be implementing since several years a complete global ban on consignments of any type of shark fin and of endangered shark," said the global container shipping and a company in a press release.Sharks are an important part of marine ecosystems around the world and MSC supports regulations and standards imposed by competent authorities to preserve populations of these animals.

MSC Signs Buckingham Palace Declaration Against Wildlife Trafficking

Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), a leading global transportation company, confirmed a pledge to combat illegal wildlife trafficking by signing the Buckingham Palace Declaration at a ceremony in London with HRH Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. “As a responsible, sustainable company, MSC is proud to be a signatory to the Buckingham Palace Declaration. Shipping Firms Sign up to Fight Illegal Wildlife Trafficking

The world’s largest shipping and airline companies, port operators and transport groups have committed to trying to shut down the main international wildlife trafficking routes. The Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) – a pioneering coalition of companies from across the global shipping industry – has signed a Declaration to tackle global wildlife trafficking routes. The Declaration was unveiled by The Duke of Cambridge Prince William and is the culmination of 12 months of work to develop a plan, led by the transport sector, to crack down on illegal wildlife trafficking routes. “The poaching crisis is bringing violence, death, and corruption to many vulnerable communities and threatens to rob future generations of their livelihoods,” said the Duke of Cambridge.

ACE Secures Queen’s Award for International Trade

ACE Winches, the deck machinery specialists, was awarded British industry’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. This is the second win in that category for the Aberdeenshire-based manufacturer, which first received the award in 2010. Founded by CEO Alfie Cheyne in 1992, ACE Winches operates on a global basis with 75% of its profits generated from international exports. Staff numbers have increased from 200 in 2011 to over 300 today as the company has expanded to meet growing demand for its range of products and services.
