Lobstermen Select IMTRA For Equipment

IMTRA announced today it has provided Offshore series LED deck lights, Exalto and Roca windshield wipers, Side-Power thrusters and Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control Systems to lobster vessels throughout New England. The newly-launched lobster boat Sailor’s Way from Stonington, Maine is the latest fishing vessel to be equipped with IMTRA gear. “The light package the IMTRA team recommended for me works so well,” said Nathan Jones, owner, Sailor’s Way. “Our commercial customersin the lobster industry tie their livelihood to the safe operation of their vessels in some of the most challenging conditions,”said Nate Cabral, Northeast commercial sales, IMTRA.

Northstar Electronics Finalises Echotec Takeover

Northstar Electronics, Inc is announcing today that they have completed the acquisition of Echotec Sonar, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. Terms of the deal fall in line with previous announcements and will be fully disclosed in regulatory filings. With Echotec now being the cornerstone entity of Northstar Electronics, the company plans to aggressively develop sonar systems needed by the defense, Homeland Security, commercial shipping, cruise ship and commercial fishing sectors. As well, Echotec will pursue contract opportunities to design, develop and build systems for particular projects in North America and internationally. Northstar will now be seeking new partners for joint developments, projects and for funding.

ZF Has New Products On The Way

At a strategic planning meeting hosted in Italy this month, ZF Marine CEO Roland Heil reaffirmed the marine group's intention to take a leadership role in developing advanced propulsion systems. Stephane Jacquemond, appointed last year to head up a new propulsion systems division, expects ZF Marine to introduce some dramatic new products. "We have gathered together the best talent this industry has to offer," he reported. Recent acquisitions and joint ventures have given ZF Marine a wider range of technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities. A joint venture with Fabio Buzzi's FB Design company and the foundation of ZF-Trimax to market surface-drive systems first signaled ZF Marine's intention to enter new markets.
