Two Texas A&M Students Earn Crowley Scholarships

Crowley Maritime Corp. has awarded Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships to Mavry Sepulvado and Andrew Hubert of the Texas A&M University Maritime Academy. The recipients earned the scholarships based on their academic performance, cadet shipping experience and interest in pursuing a career at sea.Sepulvado, a senior from New Caney, Texas, is pursuing a degree in marine transportation. He is a first-generation college student and serves as treasurer for the Triathlon Club. Sepulvado served his sea term aboard the Crowley-managed tanker Golden State.

Crowley Awards Scholarships to Four Maine Maritime Cadets

Crowley Maritime Corp. has awarded Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships to four cadets at the Maine Maritime Academy in recognition of their achievements, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based shipping company announced Wednesday.The honorees earned the scholarships based on their academic performance, financial need and interest in pursuing a career at sea. The scholarship recipients are:Megan Doucette, a senior from Bangor, Maine, is majoring in marine transport operations. Crew Training for a Future that Includes Autonomous Vessels

As we continue to contemplate a future with ships transitioning to automated and autonomous operations, the need for new and innovated crew training will only increase. Our current and future ship crews will need to straddle both new and existing vessel operation technology. Crowley Scholarships for Four Maine Maritime Academy Students

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships have helped to further educational opportunities for four students of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA). The four recipients, J.T. DiGuglielmo, Jordan Harmon, Sean O’Connor and Luke Olson, were chosen based on their excellent grades, demonstrated financial need and plans to pursue careers in the maritime industry. DiGuglielmo, from Milton, Del., is a junior in the marine transportation operations program, seeking a career as a maritime pilot. Leach to Head Career Services at Maine Maritime

Dr. John Barlow, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), announced the appointment of Captain Timothy N. Leach, of Castine, Maine, to the post of director of career services and cadet shipping at the Castine college. Leach, the immediate past waterfront operations manager at MMA, recently transitioned to the post, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in maritime industry relations, vessel operations, and marina management. In his new position at Maine Maritime Academy, Leach will be responsible for the overall management of the college’s career services department which liaisons between current students and alumni, and the greater maritime industry to facilitate employment opportunities, networking, and industry relations.

MLL to Train 60 Cadets This Summer

For the past 13 years, Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) has hosted more than 900 cadets from federal and state maritime academies to sail aboard its ships. This summer, more than 60 cadets will train aboard 28 U.S. flag containerships and 4 pure car/truck carriers. Cadets will actively participate in all of the daily tasks necessary to safely and efficiently keep large commercial vessels working in international trade, while simultaneously fulfilling the United States Coast Guard (USCG) training requirements to obtain a license. Throughout the year, MLL coordinates training opportunities for cadets from all major academies including Massachusetts Maritime, Maine Maritime, California Maritime, New York Maritime, Texas A&M Galveston, the Webb Institute of Technology and the U.S.
