APL Voted Best Trans-Pacific Shipping Line

APL today won the Best Trans-Pacific Shipping Line accolade at the 28th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs). This is the third time in four years that APL has emerged as the preferred liner in this category, following wins in 2011 and 2012. Determined by votes cast by readers of Cargonews Asia, APL clinched the award for its leading performance in schedule integrity, customer service support and its comprehensive port calls in the Trans-Pacific trade. “The container shipping business has become a much more competitive and demanding business than before,” said APL President Kenneth Glenn. “With APL coming up tops in the Trans-Pacific trade despite the challenging conditions there, this award is all the more satisfying to us.

Hamburg Süd is “Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line”

At the 28th Annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) sponsored by “Cargonews Asia” Hamburg Süd received the award as “Best Green Service Provider – Shipping Line” for the third year in a row. This year, the award ceremony held in Shanghai on 17 June was attended by several hundred senior representatives of Asian and international companies in the shipping, transportation and logistics sectors. The award was accepted on behalf of the shipping group by Stefan Kirschner, Regional Director Region Asia-Pacific of Hamburg Süd. An expert panel selected five shipping companies as AFSCA finalists, including Hamburg Süd, and the winner was chosen by the readers of the Hong Kong-based transport and logistics newspaper “Cargonews Asia”.

CEVA Wins Best Green Logistics Operator Award

CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, was awarded the Best Green Logistics Operator award at the 28th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) held in Shanghai recently. The annual awards organized by Cargonews Asia are designed to honor leading organizations for demonstrating leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability. Nominations for each category were voted for by readers of Asia’s leading shipping, supply chain and cargo transport publication, Cargonews Asia. The results are finalized by an independent auditor and CEVA was named as a finalist in the Best 3PL and Best Green Logistics Operator categories. The winners of the awards were announced at the AFSCA 2014.

Port of Long Beach Recognized for Green Efforts

The Port of Long Beach was recognized Tuesday, June 17, as the “Best Green Seaport” at the 28th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards hosted in Shanghai, China. Known for its nearly 10-year-old Green Port Policy, the Port of Long Beach has regularly reported reduced impacts on the community, wildlife and the environment. The port  has overseen dramatic improvement in air and water quality with an array of environmental initiatives that include the Clean Trucks, Green Flag Vessel Speed Reduction and Technology Advancement programs.

PSA Is “Best Global Container Terminal Operating Co”

PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA) won the “Best Global Container Terminal Operating Company” award for the ninth year, and PSA Singapore Terminals was voted “Best Container Terminal – Asia (over 4 million TEUs per year)” for the 25 time at the 28th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards(AFSCA) held in Shanghai this evening. Hamburg Süd Recognized for Green Shipping

At the 27th Annual Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards of Cargonews Asia, Hamburg Süd was awarded the title “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line” for the second time after 2012.   The award ceremony took place in Beijing on May 9 in front of some 300 representatives of the shipping, transport and logistics industry.   Readers of the Hong Kong-based shipping and logistics trade paper chose Hamburg Süd from a total of nine shipping companies nominated by a panel of experts. Among the criteria for the award were compliance with national and global environmental regulations and standards, adequate investment in new technologies and measures to reduce fuel consumption.   The award was accepted by Stefan Kirschner, Regional Director Region Asia-Pacific for Hamburg Süd.

POLB Named Best in N. America

The Port of Long Beach earned “Best Seaport in North America” honors at the 2013 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards in Beijing. The 2013 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards recently hosted in Beijing by the Cargonews Asia shipping trade publication, witnessed the 16th win in the past 18 years for Long Beach. The award recognizes the best ports as judged by importers, exporters, and logistics and supply chain professionals. "We deeply appreciate this recognition, which comes from members of the supply chain industry,” said Port of Long Beach Executive Director J. Christopher Lytle. "We will continue to work hard to improve our Port from top to bottom, from terminals, channels and bridges to customer service.

Maersk Line Wins Two Awards at ASFCA 2011

Maersk Line took home the “Best Global Shipping Line” and “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line” at the 25th annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards, which was held in Singapore on 27th April 2011. Maersk Line won the “Best Global Shipping Line” award for the 18th consecutive year, which serves testimony to its continued status as the global leader in container shipping. It was also the second time that Maersk Line was awarded “Best Green Service Provider - Shipping Line”, recognition of its leadership on environmental performance.

RoRo Shortage Hits Car Trade

While the Chinese automotive sector is experiencing double-digit growth, Chinese finished vehicle exporters are facing stiff competition and ongoing logistics challenges in getting their products to foreign markets because of a lack of RoRo ships, according to a report on http://www.cargonewsasia.com. Zhang Xiaoyu, vice-chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation said that while the number of China's vehicle exports has increased sharply, many of these cars lay in transit at ports because shipping companies simply do not have enough vessels to transport them. According to China Custom's figures, the mainland exported a total of 340,000 cars in 2006 - double that exported in 2005.

Maersk Line Wins Best Global Shipping Line

Maersk Line was named Best Global Shipping Line at the 21st Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) ceremony held in Macau, April 26, 2007. In addition, Maersk Line was awarded 'Best Shipping Line Asia-Europe' and 'Best Shipping Line Transpacific'. Held once a year, the AFSCAs are widely recognised by the Asian logistics and shipping industry. Presented by the publication Cargonews Asia, the awardees are selected by readers, who vote for their favourite companies in the different categories.

Evergreen Named Best Intra-Asian Shipping Line

Evergreen Marine Corp has been awarded Best Shipping Line - Intra Asia for the third year in a row at the 21st Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA). Wong Kwok-Leung, senior vice president, Evergreen Marine Corp collected the award from Stephen White, Director of Asia Pacific Region and Global Leasing, Thermo King at a ceremony held at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 25 April. The AFSCA accolade is particularly significant because it is voted for not by a panel of judges, but by the readership of leading regional freight newspaper Cargonews Asia, which represents shippers from across Asia.
