The Coast Guard commissioned the newest California-based 154-foot Fast Response Cutter in San Diego, Wednesday.The Benjamin Bottoms is the fourth Sentinel-Class Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to be homeported at Base Los Angeles-Long Beach.While these ships will be based in San Pedro, they will operate throughout the 11th Coast Guard District, which includes all of California and international waters off of Mexico and Central America. Capt. Brendon McPherson  relieved Capt. Laura Dickey as commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, a 378-foot high endurance cutter homeported in Seattle, during a change-of-command ceremony presided over by Vice Adm. Charles Ray, commander of Coast Guard Pacific Area, held at Coast Guard Base Seattle, July 16, 2014. Dickey is transferring to Washington, D.C., to serve as the special advisor for homeland security to the vice president of the United States. Through chilling winds and choppy seas, five-man crews aboard small, gray security boats worked tirelessly for 10 days patrolling the waters around a massive 348-foot petroleum vessel near the coast of Pohang, South Korea. Chinese Maritime Safety Administration ship 'Haixun 31' to be hosted by US 14th Coast Guard District in Honolulu Harbor. The Haixun 31 will be escorted into Aloha Tower is to be met 4, September 2012,  by a parade of ships that will include the Coast Guard Cutter Galveston Island and the Honolulu Fire Department fireboat Moku Ahi.
